This is good course, similar to the Rewell Forest Running Festival held in September but with the addition of laps of Slindon Pits, 4x4 track at the start and end of the race. Organisation wasn't great, delayed start avoidable if early entrants had been posted their number and chip. Then there was an error with the timing chips, took a few days to receive any communication about this. Again avoidable with the addition of a stopwatch and clipboard. This wasn't a cheap event and I think posting race numbers and have a backup for the timing chips should be doable and communication is free!

I ran this event with my dog - canicross is an increasingly popular sport where you trail run with your dog. The event itself was well attended with over 200 runners, everything was well organised and the course was extremely challenging - just what we wanted. A lung busting mixture of mud, sand pits, extended forest trails, hills and the fabled 'Steps of Doom' - which did not disappoint, it was crippling! What made this event stand out for me was the atmosphere and friendliness of the other runners. Not everyone likes being overtaken by a slavering hound on narrow, muddy trails but all the participants in this race were absolutely fine with the canicross contingent. I greatly enjoyed the mid race banter, which ranged from "Christ he's fast (the dog not me)!", 'Can I have a tow please (usually up a hill or through a sand pit)?" and my personal favourite "Where can I get one of those (again the dog, not me)!?"I would have no hesitation recommending this event, to canicross and normal runners alike. It has everything you want and more. Loved it.

Really enjoyed the run. The weather was beautiful and a great course! Definitely a fun run. I probably wouldnt use it as a training run as the the risk of injury is higher than average due to the course. The marshals were the best Ive ever met, really lovely, enthusiastic and supportive. It was disappointing that the race started so late but I understand getting that many people registered is tricky. There is a very steep slippery hill, and although this was mentioned in the briefing, I think the marshal at the top could have done more to reiterate it. If youre not familiar with the course it is quite a surprise. Three people fell in the short time I was on the slope, one quite seriously. I mentioned this to another marshal but was sad to see that on the return leg he still wasnt telling people. Fortunately other runners were warning each other. Other than the late start and the marshalling at the top of the hill, I thought it was brilliant.

Great run, great route, great Marshalls. Will be back. Two things to consider1- need more people or bigger place to register people. Event did start late.2- personally there is no need for chip timing. Lose this, save the associated problems and perhaps even drop the price

Dirty, sloppy, friendly run, great stuff! Slight delay at the start but everyone was great, no running snobbery!
