Route information
This run follows the old Somerset and Dorset (S&D) railway, now the North Dorset trailway. In its day, users more commonly knew this route as the slow and dirty due to the trains always stopping and never seemingly making headway. After the line closed in 1966, it was reimagined into a wonderful leisure facility, providing a long, flat path for cyclists, runners, walkers and horse riders.
Starting at Sturminster Newton you follow the river Stour valley passing some amazing sights and intriguing villages. The 19k route offers great opportunities to meet with friends and supporters and enjoy features such as the restored Shillingston station and Georgian town of Blandford.

Second time ran this race. Last year was dry! This year… well it could have been wetter, the last 4km were very soggy. But the medal is gorgeous, one of my favourites ❤️

It was a really pretty course, very well sign posted, lovely friendly marshals, mini bus laid on to return to the start, mulled wine and mince pies at the end of the run. Unfortunate weather though as it rained almost for the entire run but obviously, no one can control the weather but the marshals smiled all the time even under huge umbrellas so full marks to them. Maybe if the run was held in the summer months, it would be be even more enjoyable!

Well organised event as usual from Tri Counties, good scenery and well signposted. My only slight criticism is that it would be nice to run the whole trailway rather than stop a few km from the end. Could the run go to the end before looping back to the current finish point, as i can see why it finishes here with the car park and cafe nearby.

I was really slow, but this was expected. Good friends with sweeper Ben, and very well looked after all the way round. Shame the weather didn’t allow a sunlit course, but this wasn’t down to the organisation.
