The two Sportives are perfect for people looking to get into non-competitive cycling. These events are for fun and are not a race!

The Standard Sportive is the longest race of the day at just over 100k, and is a brilliant challenge for any keen cyclist.
All the courses begin in the centre of Southampton, near the Guildhall. Riders will head out of the city into beautiful countryside, through towns such as New Alresford and Stockbridge before returning home through Romsey to the exciting city centre finish.

The Short Sportive is designed for people who are taking on their first Sportive or would like a slightly shorter ride. The 63k route will still be a challenge, but one a wide variety of abilities can take on.
From the start in the city centre the shorter route will also take in some of the areas most scenic countryside. Riders will head through Fair Oak, Shawford, Braishfield and Romsey before making their way back to the wonderful atmosphere at the finish in the city centre.

A Criterium is a short-distance fast-paced race. Riders will compete for a set period of time and complete as many laps as possible of the short closed-road loop.
The loop in the city centre will circle two of the main parks, and with a wide and fast route this is a great course for some fast and fun racing.
There will be a variety of races and categories throughout the day, and with non-competitive and competitive races you can choose the right one for you!
Non-competitive
These races are for riders who would like to experience closed road racing, but in a calmer way than the competitive races, and generally for people who haven't raced a Criterium before.
Competitive
These races are for experienced riders who are registered with British Cycling, and looking to test themselves against the best.

The Guildhall is situated in the centre of Southampton. The city can be accessed from the M27 or the M3.
Parking
There are lots of car parks in Southampton, Westquay car parks are now open 24 hours a day and the majority of Council Car Parks will be open from 6am.

The nearest train station is Southampton Central, it is approximately 0.4 miles from the race village area (10 minutes).

You must be at least 16 to take part in either of the Sportives. The Criterium races have a range of age categories, shown in the course details section.
Spectator Info
Family and friends can come along to watch the riders flying past, or they can head into Southampton City Centre and Spin City which will have some fantastic entertainment.

Do I have to wear a helmet during the Southampton Sporterium?
Yes! For your safety, it is required that every participant wears a helmet. Not having one will result in you not being able to participate.
Will there be refreshments on the route for the Southampton Sporterium?
Yes, There will be feed stations around the sportive route to keep your energy levels up.
Can I skip red lights and stop signs during the Southampton Sporterium?
No, you will need to obey the usual rules of the road for your own safety on the sportive as it will not be on closed roads.
Will there be mechanical support at the Southampton Sporterium?
Yes there will be mechanical support, both stationary and roving.
Should I enter the competitive or non-competitive Criterium races for the Southampton Sporterium?
The non-competitive are generally for less experienced racers, who are still looking for a fun and fast race but calmer than the competitive races. While the competitive races are for experienced racers who have a British Cycling License.
