Here's what races are available for Southampton Sporterium 2023
The Short Sportive
The Standard Sportive
Youth D & E Criterium
Youth C Criterium
The two Sportives are perfect for people looking to get into non-competitive cycling. These events are for fun and are not a race!
The Standard Sportive
Distance 104.6
Elevation 987m
The Standard Sportive is the longest race of the day at just over 100k, and is a brilliant challenge for any keen cyclist.
All the courses begin in the centre of Southampton, near the Guildhall. Riders will head out of the city into beautiful countryside, through towns such as New Alresford and Stockbridge before returning home through Romsey to the exciting city centre finish.
The Short Sportive
Distance 63.8k
Elevation 715
The Short Sportive is designed for people who are taking on their first Sportive or would like a slightly shorter ride. The 63k route will still be a challenge, but one a wide variety of abilities can take on.
From the start in the city centre the shorter route will also take in some of the areas most scenic countryside. Riders will head through Fair Oak, Shawford, Braishfield and Romsey before making their way back to the wonderful atmosphere at the finish in the city centre.
The Criterium
Distance 1.7k Laps
Elevation 15m
A Criterium is a short-distance fast-paced race. Riders will compete for a set period of time and complete as many laps as possible of the short closed-road loop.
The loop in the city centre will circle two of the main parks, and with a wide and fast route this is a great course for some fast and fun racing.
There will be a variety of races and categories throughout the day, and with non-competitive and competitive races you can choose the right one for you!
These races are for riders who would like to experience closed road racing, but in a calmer way than the competitive races, and generally for people who haven't raced a Criterium before.
These races are for experienced riders who are registered with British Cycling, and looking to test themselves against the best.
