Did the race in 2020
First experience of an ultra marathon which was very challenging but this route was poorly signposted and relied heavily on following a map that was printed on A5 in very small writing!! A lot of people got lost and a group managed to get across the finish line the wrong way round. We even had to cross a dual carriageway (A27) at one point feeling completely lost. Trying to keep up with runners ahead also proved unsuccessful when they also took the wrong turn. The volunteers were in very good spirits which helped boost the atmosphere but having the run clearly marked out would have made it 100x easier. The run is only on the coast for a few miles with beach and sea views as well as a good view from the top of the hill in Portsmouth but the run is predominantly through the villages. If you know the area and you can orienteer then you may enjoy this more!!
