Route information

Ferry Meadows is one of the largest country parks in the region. Situated less than three miles from Peterborough City Centre, at the heart of Nene Park, its varied landscapes make it the favourite destination for thousands of visitors throughout the year.
The St Patricks Day Challenge is a 6 hour event (if you a 9am start) or a 4 hour event (if you 11am start), run as far as you can during the six hours and a little bit more if you're lucky, as long as you are leaving the Base Camp by 5:59:59 you get to run another lap, the route will be a 5.3k lap throughout the forest consisting of gravel footpaths and some grass areas - a multi-terrain course.
You can run as much or little as you want to, you can rest between laps if you like and head out for some more.

Get full directionsBy Car
Ferry Meadows lies three miles west of Peterborough and just two miles east of the A1. On all major routes into the city, look for and follow the brown tourist attraction signs for NENE PARK or the country park symbol. Ferry Meadows is signed on Oundle Road (A605).
If using navigation, it is recommended entering "Ham Lane, Peterborough" or the postcode PE2 5UU.

Waves
Participants have the choice to start their race at 9am or 11am. Please note that both waves will end at 3 pm, meaning those in the second wave will have a shorter time limit than those in the first wave.
Race packs
You must collect your race pack from the registration area. To find the registration area look out for the main toilet block. To the left of the block, you will see the race arch and gazebos. You will also see a sign for race registration.
Age Requirements
Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to take part.
Cut-off time
There will be a cut-off time of 6:00:00 as you are leaving the Base Camp by 5:59:59 you get to run another lap.
Race Briefing
Around 10 minutes before the race director will call you all to the start line for the mass start.
Aid stations
There will be an aid station every 5.3k lap.
Cupless Event
Please note the event has gone cupless, so please bring your own water bottle to the event.
Bag Drop
You will pass near the car park each lap so it is suggested personal baggage is left in cars
FAQs
Will there be an aid station at the St Patricks Day Challenge?
Yes there will be an aid station supplying water and sugary snacks. It will be at the event Base Camp situated at the lap point of the 5.3k course.
Do I need trail running shoes for the St Patricks Day Challenge?
Normal running trainers should be plenty for this event. If there has been wet weather trail shoes may be helpful, but running trainers should still be fine.
Will there be a bag drop at the St Patricks Day Challenge?
There will be a space to leave your bags, please note that it is left at your own risk, please do not leave valuables in your bag.
