This year the Rotary Club of Stamford Burghley are in particular endorsing Charities at the Stamford Santa Fun Run. As per previous years, the emphasis is for local organisations and charities to enter their own teams in the Fun Run to raise money by sponsorship for their own good causes. Last year 75 teams took part and a total of over 500 "Santas" ran or walked the course despite the wintry weather.

The charities will put in teams and obtain their own sponsorship for individual runners. Other teams will also enter the run to raise funds for their own preferred charities.

The full web site will open on Saturday 1 September 2018. On line applications can then be completed.

    Run 5km

Stamford Santa Fun Run route

The event will be on tarmac roads and country paths so your footwear should be suitable for these tracks bearing in mind it is December and may have been raining recently. To complete the 5km it will be necessary to complete 3 laps of the track. You will be expected to count your own completed laps although it is perfectly acceptable for you to complete less than the 3 laps if you want.

Event Details

The run will commence at 11.30 a.m. Those intending to run will be invited to start first, followed by the joggers, the walkers, the strollers, the amblers, the dog walkers (on leads please), the pushchairs, etc. Check-in will be open from 10.00 a.m. We recommend you plan to be at the event start by 11.00 a.m. for the warm-up event at 11.15 a.m.

Facilities

There will be toilet facilities adjacent to the event start suitable for disabled access. St John Ambulance first aid points will be located at strategic points around the track. Refreshments will be available for all entrants after the event, courtesy of Anne Corder Recruitment.

  • Did the 5 Km in 2018

This was a really fun event for everyone & any ability. The weather was good and in the santa suit I got really hot so don't layer up too much. Get there early and park in Wharf Rd car park then it's a couple of mins walk to the start line. Highly recommended, fun, family, dog friendly event. Go and have a laugh you don't have to be a runner lots of people were walking.

If you have a thin waist - tuck the santa trousers into your shorts/tights slightly. This will help prevent them from sliding down during the run.

It was really well organised and we enjoyed the run. We are just getting into running and it was an enjoyable relaxed run, with the bonus of wearing a Santa suit and beard.
