Event summary
Here are the distances available for Stour Valley Half Marathon & Marathon
Route information
This brand-new event from Hare & Tortoise is a fantastic addition to their race calendar, with both half marathon and marathon distances on offer. The route consists of sections of the St Edmunds Way, the Stour Valley Path and the Essex Way, which take in beautiful countryside as they weave through the landscape.
Beginning in the charming medieval village of Nayland, which is nestled in Dedham Vale, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the looping route starts by heading into the countryside, turning at the Stoke by Nayland Hotel & Golf Course. The route then crosses the River Box, heading downwards towards Stratford St Mary, where it will cross the River Stour. Runners will then pass through Boxted and continue on to Nayland, where the half marathon race concludes.
Marathon runners will head north, continuing past Nayland Airfield and into the village of Burres Hamlet. Participants will then rejoin the River Stour briefly, before the route strikes out into open countryside. The route finishes by bringing runners back into Nayland.
This is an exciting race, with runners having to self-navigate for most of the course using a GPX file or written instructions, which will be downloadable prior to race day.
