Route information
The Sussex Downs Half Marathon starts out from Plumpton Racecourse, right at the food of the South Downs National Park. This course has unspoilt views, fast, long-ranging trails, and challenging climbs, making it the perfect event for all types of runners.
The Sussex Downs Hald Marathon course starts with a mostly flat 3.5k section amongst trees before a climb up to the South Downs Way. Your hard work getting up this hill will be well worth it when you see the spectacular views over the Sussex countryside, the Seven Sisters Country Park, and far-reaching sea views.
From there, you'll be taken along sturdy trails towards Brighton before heading back up South Downs Way. Finally, you'll enjoy a downhill stint with vast views before a flat 3k to the finish line.

Did the Half Marathon in 2021
Fantastic race with great scenery and well signposted. I have lived in Brighton all my live and taken part in may races but this run took me to areas that I have never been providing great views, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only feedback would be set runners off in small groups rather than singly for safety reasons as the course can be quite remote, on caution signs state why you need to take caution i.e. bull in field, position a route sign after a gate if you are not expected to go via the gate and put out mile markers or make it known that the route doesnt have mile markers so that sports watches can be a consideration.

Great set up and organisation. Super friendly marshals in wind and rain. Can't wait to do again in the dry. Great route with amazing views.

Did the 12.5k in 2021
Was my first event but so well organised it made it all so easy. Was wet and windy which made the route even more challenging. Was more hilly than I expected but probably my own fault for not reading up more before hand on the route. Will definitely be back next year maybe for the half next time

No bag drop according to the organiser website. I usually find a secluded place to leave my bag. It’s always been there when I get back

Normally that wouldn't be an issue but you are on the last start wave of the day - the starting area will be shutting down shortly after 10:30 so I suggest you aim earlier to give yourself some breathing space.
