2.5km swim. Great experience.! The course was well laid out and simple to follow. The organisers were clear and helpful and the atmosphere was electric!

I didn’t have a great day in the water (course is mentally tough imho) but organisation was great. I think DBMax timings struggled with people (like me) who bailed out of the 10k at 5k but I’m don’t personally get upset over those details

Disappointed that I emailed a question many weeks in advance to ask if tow floats were compulsory - never got a response. When we arrived on the day there were car park marshalls present but 10 minutes later they had all disappeared and a number of other participants were asking us questions about if it was the correct car park, where race registration was located etc.Race registration staff were not particularly helpful. My boyfriend and I checked-in simultaneously at different desks but the desk my boyfriend checked-in at did not inform him that the race briefing was 10 minutes before the event or the location, or any event information that would have been helpful. We had both registered online before arriving to pre-order and collect nutrition. When I asked about this at the registration desk they knew nothing about it and directed me over to a separate stand. When I visited the stand the gent took me to an empty table and told me that the nutrition had been set up there but had all run out! Although he did locate 2 unopened boxes but it would have been helpful to have had this allocated to people who had registered in advance, otherwise the advanced registration seems pointless. The event briefing took place in the triathlon transition area which was fine apart from standing around in bare feet on rubbish and spilt gels that had been left there. The briefing itself was satisfactory although a lot of detail about the course and the feed station was hard to hear and not particularly clear from the start area where details were pointed out from. The swim course felt a little tricky to navigate with so many buoys of various sizes set out in the water, particularly the M shape. This was more the case for myself who was a slower swimmer as I did not have a large pack or group of swimmers to follow.Again, with me being a slower swimmer (I was 12th from the end), it was disappointing to get out of the water and most of the event area had been packed away. I felt extremely dizzy and disorientated when I exited the water, and I do not like Coke and was surprised and disappointed that water was not available at the end station, this was located completely separately outside and there were no cups available! The containers that the water was housed in was not even labelled up so it was unclear that this was suitable for drinking water. But, with all this said, we are both feeling extremely disappointed and frustrated that we had to pay an additional £3 for a finisher's medal! We both take part in a large number and range of events around the country every year, and this is the first time ever that when paying for an event a finishers medal was not included as part of the entry fee. I do not feel that £38 as an entry fee for a long swim event was cheap and would have expected this to have been included, or perhaps to avoid disappointment it would have been better to increase the entry price to incorporate a medal. We paid to purchase a medal because I have taken part in 3 long distance swims this year as a personal challenge and wanted a medal to mark the occasion, but even these feel disappointing as they do not have a date, the name of the swim event or distance included on them merely the words "Swim Long".I will say, the showers at the end were lovely and hot!

Well organised event in a fantastic venue. The lake is perfect for a swim event and the water is nice and clear. Use of the shower and changing facilities afterwards is a bonus

The parking was hard to find and nothing was properly signposted. It was unclear where to go and register. There were no maps to see where the relevant areas were. The explanation of the course wasn't great and the person doing to explaining often turned the loudhailer away from the audience and onto the course which meant we couldn't hear. The top of the course was poorly mapped and the safety people were not around to indicate the right way. The first lap of the 10km I must have swam an extra 200 metres following the buoys. the second time the safety boat directed me the right way. There was mention of showers and changing areas but these were not to be seen.

I enjoyed it but it was quite hard, not having swam 5k before. Easy course to navigate as you only have to stay close to the edge making sighting easier.

1. Water instead of coke would be better or, as an option to the coke as anafter activity drink. 2. Would have been good to have had staff/volunteers to remind people who have just spent hours in a cold lake that there are warm showers available and where they are. 3. More hot drink stands. It was freezing coming out from the swim and a massive queue at the one place that sold hot drinks. Left the venue feeling cold and grumpy. NOT a good experience.

The swim itself was OK. I wouldn't do the event again as felt it was overpriced-medals were at additional cost! Post race nutrition awful, half a cup of coke and a tiny slither of cake, no bananas, no nutrition samples as described in event info. Poor value for money. Came away from event not really feeling the endorphins I ought have.
