The Swimathon is a truly unique event. Over its history the event has seen in excess of 700,000 swimmers take part since the inaugural edition in 1986. With distances from 400m (16 lengths of a 25m pool); all the way up to 5km (200 lengths of a 25m pool) - and so many in-between (including team options!), the Swimathon is absolutely a swim for all comfort levels.
The event takes place at over 600 venues across the UK and spans three days from October 16 - October 18. To find your nearest venue, simply type in your post code upon entry.
The event itself is made up of 5 individual challenges and 2 team challenges, details of which can be found below:
Individual Challenges:
400m - Now into its 3rd year, this race has become a staple of the event. Perfect for those who haven't been in the pool for a while, the challenge equates to 16 lengths of a 25m pool.
1.5k - The ideal test for novice swimmers or perhaps those who prefer the quicker format. This distance is the equivalent of 60 lengths in a 25m pool.
2.5k - A more formidable test, swimmers will finish up having completed 100 lengths of a 25m pool.
5k - The ultimate challenge and undoubtedly the event's most popular. This swim will require extensive training and commitment. At a mammoth 200 lengths of a 25m pool, this is the pinnacle of all swimming endurance tests.
Triple 5k Challenge - Now, take the 5k challenge and do it across all 3 days of the Swimathon. Again, the Triple 5k has proved ever-popular and requires significant training and prior swimming ability.
**
Team Challenges:**
1.5k - Team up with your friends and family and take on 60 lengths of a 25m pool together.
5k - Put the call out and get all your swimming aficionados together to tackle 200 lengths of a 25m pool.
  • All swimmers receive swim cap and medal
  • Towels if you fundraise more than £300 by Thursday 30th April
