Proper XC off road race, no tarmac whatsoever. One longer and one shorter lap, with slightly changing conditions. Supportive marshals, crucial junctions and turns to ensure runners take the right direction. Nice medal, unfortunately I've had to rush back home so didn't get a chance to have a go at the post race soup but I've heard it was delicious. Would definitely do again.

If the weather is as it was this year make sure you've got a good pair of trail runners and expect them to get mucky.

Proper cross country - in the woods, twisty turny, streams to jump over, lots of hills and lots of mud! How it should be. I wore 15mm spikes thinking it would be ultra muddy (as it was last year - i.e up to the ankles) but decent trail shoes would have been fine.

Very muddy, trail shoes a must. Nice hill to finish
