About this event

Named after Bert Tarpley, one of the earliest Pacer members and former club President, this event is very much part of the local race calendar. The course passes through beautiful countryside and is run along gently undulating country lanes. This event is run over two distances, 10 miles and 20 miles, and the latter fits perfectly into the training calendar for a spring Marathon. Each junction is marshaled and the course is well signed. Please note the roads are lightly used but are not traffic-free so keep left at all times. Finally, there will be a cut-off time of four hours from the start of the 20m race. This means there will be no marshals or support vehicles from 2.30pm.

Good parking facilities and close to race head quarters! There was enough toilets for all runners and the school building was open which meant you could stay inside from the cold before the start of the race. The course was brilliant. Slightly undulating; downhills allowed recovery and hills werent leg zapping enough to allow pace to drop. Brilliant, enthusiastic marshals all the way round the course. Awesome finish and free finish photo! Really good quality tshirt too. Great race 10/10. Definitely recommend it to anyone who fancies a challenge and especially those looking for a race before a spring marathon

This is a great event, superbly organised, marshalled. The 10 mile course is undulating, through great scenery. Everyone is friendly and the supply to tea and cakes seems endless. Not only a good workout but a very enjoyable day.

Really enjoyed despite the cold temperatures. Only disappointment was that t shirt was short sleeved when Id had it on good authority from previous years that although no medal, you do get a good long sleeved shirt! Love the colours of it though.

No - the information given out before hand was comprehensive.Kit so depends on the weather so not something you can advise on, I would think.Maps of course clear - personally I don't know the area, but I had a rough idea of the course which was good.

Be of no doubt, this is a fabulous race in preparation for a spring marathon. The course rolls nicely and its open to the elements so when the wind blows, it really does come at you.Going in a figure of 8 on the 20 miler, the course goes through pretty Suffolk countryside and delightful villages.Make sure you have your breakfast before this race because you keep climbing throughout with a pleasing finish which is downhill.

Really nice and gently undulating course. Nice that it was a single loop and we merged with the 10m runners towards the end. Excellent marathon training run.

No, but I've run it before so know I what to expect. I don't think that there's anything out of the ordinary that anyone would need to know. Perhaps the only thing I would say is don't expect much in the way support from spectators because there aren't many (apart from a few dog walkers and a few people who stand outside their houses). Having said that, It's a race round quiet country lanes so its to be expected and it's not meant as a criticism, that's just the way it is.

One of the best organised running events I have completed, super undulating course, single loop across the stunning Suffolk countryside, the weather on the day made this even more spectacular. Thank you Ill be back next year.Tom

The was only the second race Ive completed, and so still somewhat of a novice race runner. The only thing I wasnt properly aware of was the fact you cant use headphones - although this was in the race information and not the fault of the race organisers that I missed this.

I thought the race was great, a really lovely route and took the pressure off trying to find 20 miles for ourselves as part of marathon training. I also think the marshals were amazing... really enthusiastic and genuinely motivational! This was really needed! Some people have said they had t-shirts but we did not. Im not sure if these were available?
