Route information
This swim takes place in the beautiful clear waters of the Ellingham Water Ski and Wakeboard Club. The challenge is how far can you swim in the 5 hour time limit. You can take on the challenge solo, or in teams of 2, 3 or 4.
This is a fun, feel good event which will have a wonderful atmosphere. The course will be 1200m around the lake and will begin in daylight at 17:00 and reduced to a smaller 400m lap once the sun starts falling. Swimmers will be given glow sticks for the final twilight hours and when the party really begins!
The race is electronically timed so your laps can be measured and logged and shown on the live update screen in the Race Village. Swimmers can stop and rest when they wish, you don't have to swim throughout the whole time limit. You must always leave at the correct point to ensure lap times are recorded.
You can also stay in the water for more than 1 lap, and split up your swim however you wish. Likewise with Team entries you can choose how you split up the time within your team.
This is a feel good event where you can get stuck into the challenge whilst enjoying a party with like-minded people.

There will be free parking available on-site.
Public Transport
There are no train stations close to the venue, but there are various bus stops in Ringwood that will be walking distance from the event.

Start Times
You will be allocated a start time and please arrive around 45 minutes prior to this to pick up your race pack, get ready in your wetsuit and get to the start line.
Age Restrictions
You will need to be over 16 to race as a solo entry and if you are part of a team you can be over 14.
Mandatory Kit
Each participant will receive a glow stick in their race pack to use for the night section. However, as darkness falls, you will need to race with a tow float so your glow stick can be attached and the marshals can see you in the water.
There will be no use of the changing rooms due to covid so please bring warm clothes/dryrobes to keep warm while you are not in the water.
Spectator Info
The organiser hopes to be able to have limited spectators by the event but will keep you informed with the current restrictions at the time.

Yes we will supply a feed station out of the water with basics such as water, bananas, gels, bars and haribo.

Do I have to exit the lake every lap at The Sun Downer Swim?
No you won’t need to exit the lake if you want to do more than 1 lap, you will just need to hit the timing point in the water. However you will be able to exit the lake on completion of each lap if you wish to rest, use the facilities or refuel.
Will there be food available at The Sun Downer Swim?
There will be a hot drinks van and a catering unit (in which you get a free hot meal included in your ticket) and you will be able to purchase extras.
