Route information
The Beast of Bryn (Bwystfil Y Bryn) returns for 2024, promising fantastic 6.5 mile and 10.5 mile courses. You'll experience amazing scenery as you run through the mountains of the Afan Argoed Forest Park in South Wales in a field of both novice and experienced runners! For this year's event, all road crossings have been eliminated from the event for a stress-free running experience.
Starting from the playing field near Bryn Rugby & Social Club, the 10.5 mile route features approximately 556m of elevation. Runners will begin by heading out along Neath Road and into the Afan Forest Park. The route will take you along a series of forest trails, initially heading in the direction of Nantyffyllon before looping round back through the park towards the Pelenna River. You'll then head through Michaelston Forest back down in the direction of Bryn, finishing at the recreation ground.
The shorter, 6.5 mile route starts from the same point and tackles 288m of elevation. You'll follow a similar route to the 10 mile runners to form a shorter loop, keeping you entirely within the Forest Park before you return to Bryn.
Post-race entertainment will be available at Bryn Rugby & Social Club.
All profits from this event will go to local community organisations and causes supported by B.R.A.G (Bryn Residents Action Group).
