This was my first half marathon and I knew it would be tough one after running a 10k and 5mile previously here. The weather was horrendous and the mud deep and slippy but did I enjoy it? Yes, of course! The scenery was great, the marshal's helpful and friendly and the weather gave everyone a cause to bond over! They'll be no PB here but it's a great place to run and I'll be back next year!

The route provides an opportunity to run on mixed terrain and through forest scenery. The route was clearly marked and friendly marshals are on hand to give additional guidance and support. I'm already looking forward to have another chance to take on this course 😀.

Great day, good challenge and beautiful course. I’ve done a few half marathons before but was a bit nervous about the undulating hills without a route elevation graph and was concerned about the pouring rain when we turned up. Once we got moving, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Probably not a course for a PB but a good challenge. The few uphills you start with are matched with downhills, and you do 2 laps for the half. The staff were amazing, stayed upbeat and friendly despite having to stand in the rain for hours and the Jaffa cakes at the end were exactly what I wanted.

Really enjoyed it, even if I was drenched by the I had walked to the start line. Great track, friendly volunteers, the fact that I came 2nd probably helped my opinion of it.

A challenging, undulating course with some energy sapping mud! Good parking/ toilet facilities, could have done with a goody bag or cake at the end.

Great event, definitely challenging but the fresh air and beautiful scenery makes it worth the effort. A tea/coffee tent at the finish would have been lovely as we didn't want to walk to the main cafe restaurant all tired, cold and muddy.

No changing facilities. Lock the toilets at end of run so had to change underwear/ muddy clothes in car park ! Helpers were lovely , must have got really cold standing out there all that time. Lovely huge medal 😀 nice shirt too . Very muddy but can’t do much about that !

A fantastic event and a really good challenge. Half marathon course was set out really well, very wet and muddy in place that would not have looked out of place in a swamp, however this made it a very tough but rewarding challenge. Not a PB course but one that is just as rewarding as a PB. Well organised and friendly and helpful volunteers, overall a great day. Can not wait for next years event. 👍👍

A great course around the woods without massive ascent and descent. Generally good trails with occasional serious mud. More surprising was a Forestry England version of cobbles which was less predictable and needed care, and seemed to appear at random over short stretches. Nice downhills towards the end of each lap. The final 200 metres was interesting, as if the grass had been ploughed up specially for the race, but a fitting end to a good test. Well organised and encouraging marshals, and no rain on the day. I look forward to attempting this again.
