Route description
Route description

This is a 10k route through stunning Bedgebury Forest, with Half Marathon athletes completing two (and a bit) laps of the course.

The route kicks-off from the same place and the run will take place across the naturally undulating mixed-terrain walkways and trails within the forest.

The course will be well marshalled throughout the race, with a sweep runner to make sure all athletes are accounted for.

A fantastic event and a really good challenge. Half marathon course was set out really well, very wet and muddy in place that would not have looked out of place in a swamp, however this made it a very tough but rewarding challenge. Not a PB course but one that is just as rewarding as a PB. Well organised and friendly and helpful volunteers, overall a great day. Can not wait for next years event. 👍👍

A great course around the woods without massive ascent and descent. Generally good trails with occasional serious mud. More surprising was a Forestry England version of cobbles which was less predictable and needed care, and seemed to appear at random over short stretches. Nice downhills towards the end of each lap. The final 200 metres was interesting, as if the grass had been ploughed up specially for the race, but a fitting end to a good test. Well organised and encouraging marshals, and no rain on the day. I look forward to attempting this again.

Very well organised event. Great atmosphere and stunning scenery. Challenging course with varied trails for all abilities. This was a great, fun event for my first half marathon so a good introduction for new runners but has plenty challenging terrain for the more experienced runner.

Stunning location, challenging course more undulating and more muddy than expected but that just added to the experience. Well organised and encouraging volunteers, and thank you to the lady who opened up the toilet block to lessen the long toilet queues at the start. Would definitely recommend and run this again.

The course conditions were a joke. The race is advertised as being mainly on hard surface forest trails. The start and end was half a mile through a waterlogged muddy field and there were several steep hills in thick mud - impossible to run. No one could hear the PA at the start and the baggage area was a small groundsheet surrounded by mud. The drink stations were all plastic cups - not exactly eco friendly in a forest setting and the drink stations (no bins) were bizarre - first one after a mile?! Never again.

Had a go at the 10k as it was my first race in a while. The mixed-terrain was slightly challenging but the still a lovely run. Only lacked in a bit of atmosphere but everything else was spot on.

Beautiful woods and gardens, a mixture of wood trails and park paths. Pretty squelchy in places when I ran it so not necessarily one for a PB but really enjoyed the views, mix of terrain and a few challenging hills. Would definitely do it again.

Loved this half, it is a two lap course but the second lap is slightly different so it isn’t boring. It is beautiful and challenging with lovely trails. I found this course unexpectedly fast despite the terrain. I think it maybe because you have discs to really let go on the down hills. To one to get your teeth into. A must do race!

Bedgebury is a beautiful location and an amazing place to visit the best of times, but to run a half marathon around forest gave me a new appreciation for the location. The event was really well managed with plenty of (v excited) marshals, clear instructions leading up and on the race day from Nice Work (as always). Overall a cracking half.

I did my first trail run at Bedgebury four years ago progressing from 10km to the half marathon and can honestly say they have been the very best runs of my life! Nature, hills, trees, mud, laughter, gravel, sweat and sunshine! What’s not to love ... I’m a serial returner and recommend others to do the same!

Great race and a good challenging course with some climbs, mud and rocks! Well marshalled and course cleared signed. We'll bowls of biscuits at the finish line as well. Really good fun and the icing on the cake was the beautiful weather!

The course was quite off-piste in places muddy and rocky. I would have liked to know it was going to be trail running. There is also quite a long walk from the car park to the start of the run, so would allow a lot more time next time. Would have preferred a 10am start!

Unusually for events these days, race numbers and instructions were sent out prior to the race. Race numbers included chip timing and a car parking ticket was included in the race price. Plenty of parking space and the race start was a shortish walk from the car park. It's definitely more uphill than down. Every time we passed a kilometre marker we seemed to go up another hill! The route has varied terrain, some hard packed ground, some tricky half buried stonework, mud, grass and some tarmac paths towards the end. Trail shoes were definitely required.Having a proper cafe on site is a real bonus - and despite the amount of competitors and supporters the queue after the race was not long and there was plenty of cake to go round!

Very muddy and slippery in places, even though the week prior to the race had been quite sunny. More emphasis on wearing trail shoes. Wasnt much direction on what to do, where to wait etc prior to the race beginning. Course itself is great, with friendly course marshals and good quality medal.
