Route description
Route description

This 121 hectare site and totally self-contained venue is perfect for a COVID-secure event. Betteshanger Park is the site of former Betteshanger colliery in east Kent, and the tarmac cycle paths means this venue is traffic free.

Both 5 and 10 mile courses are gently undulating and are perfect for first-time or experienced runners alike.

Logistics and schedule

10:00 Start line closes

*A full set of race instructions will be sent to entrants prior to the event.

Start Waves

The event will operate on a start wave system, with a maximum of 12 runners being set off in 3-minute slots. The first start time is 8:30am and the last is 10am.

Entrants will be allocated their start times which is decided from their estimated finish time.

Age Requirements

Entrants must be 15 and older to enter the 5 mile event and 16 and older to enter the 10 mile.

Race Packs

Race packs will be sent out to entrants who have entered in good time. If you entered close to the race date, you will need to pick up your race pack on the day.

Spectators

Unfortunately due to the current situation spectators are encouraged not to attend.

The Event Site

The park is accessible by foot via two entrances. The main entrance is off the main roundabout at Shodlen on the A258 Deal to Sandwich Road. The rear gate entrance is a 15 minute walk from Southwall Road, Deal.

By Car

There is ample parking available at the Race HQ. The park is located just off the A258 approximately 2 miles from Deal, Kent. It is within 10 miles of the A2 at Whitfield.

Please note that there is a charge for the car park (£3 per day); however, it gives you a full day's parking, so it is encouraged to make the most of the visit and take a look around the country park.

By Public Transport

The closest railway stations are Deal and Sandwich. You will then need to get a taxi or cycle to the event.
