The swim route will involve lengths of the lake (each length is 3k) with a choice of 4 different distances to choose from. Wetsuit and non-wetsuit places are available!

Parking
There is plenty of public parking available near the event base (£4 for the day) Disabled parking is available there too. Please do not park on the road or cause any obstructions to access or gate ways.
By Car
Llanberis typically is 5 hours from London by car, 2 hours from Manchester. To access Llanberis turn off at Junction 20 of the M6 onto the M56, follow signs for NORTH WALES to reach the A55. Use post code LL55 4TY in your Sat Nav and follow signs for the Slate Museum.
Public Transport
The closest train station to Llanberis is in Bangor. Buses run from Bangor to Llanberis.

Registration
Registration will be at Petes Eat's Cafe on Friday and Snowdonia Water Sports on Saturday where you'll collect your event hat, race number and timing chip. Please arrive with plenty of time.
Briefing
The briefing will be lake side, the time is TBC. All participants must attend the briefing or they will not be allowed to swim.
Travel to Start Line
Those doing the 6k swim will not need to board the train. The start line for the two way event is a short walk from registration.
1.3k and 9k swimmers will be on train 1 which leaves promptly at 09:00. 3k swimmers will be on train 2 leaving promptly at 10:00. If you miss the train you will have to find your own way to the start line.
Bag Drop
There will be a bag drop at the start lines for the events. This will only be for shoes and 1 small bag. Those doing the 9k and 1.3k swim, you can take your small bag on the train and leave it at your start line. Bags will be transported to the finish for you.
Please only leave essential items in your bag as they are left at your own risk.
Kit List
Mandatory equipment for wetsuit competitors:
  • Swim hats supplied by event organisers must be worn at all times when in the water
  • Neoprene Wetsuit
  • Goggles
  • Tow floats may be used but are not mandatory for wetsuit wearing participants
Mandatory equipment for non-wetsuit competitors:
  • Swim hats supplied by event organisers must be worn at all times when in the water
  • Suitable swimwear (shorts style suits and rash vests are acceptable. No neoprene other than that listed below)
  • Goggles
  • 1 Tow float (must be a dedicated swimming tow float)
Additional equipment that may be used: Neoprene socks and non-webbed neoprene gloves, neoprene hat (worn under event swim cap), ear plugs
Additional equipment that may NOT be used
Snorkles, flippers, hand paddles, webbed gloves, headphones, pull buoy or any other floatation aids, any power assisted aids.
On Site Facilities
There are public toilets in the middle of the main car park, including a disabled toilet. There are changing facilities but no showers.
Event Handbook
The handbook with further information about race day will be emailed to you a few weeks before the event. Please read through it thoroughly.
Age Requirements
You must be aged 18 years or over on event day to enter the 9k, 6k and 3k swims. 16+ participants will need parental consent to take part in full length swims. Age 8 and above can complete the 1.3k swim if accompanied in the water by a fee paying adult who will take complete responsibility for them.
Crowds
Spectators are welcome to come and support you at The BIG Welsh Swim! There are plenty of good spots from which to support your friends. There is disabled access to the registration/finish area though this is on a rough track, not tarmac. Dogs are welcome on leads.
Will there be a bag drop at The Big Welsh Swim?
Yes. You'll be able to leave shoes and a small bag at the the start of the race. If you're competing in the 9k, 3k or 1.3k, your belongings will be transported to the finish for you.
