Course Details

The Bushy 10K course is a two lap route covering the paths and trails within the boundaries of Bushy Park. The course has been measured using GPS but, because of its multi-terrain nature, cannot carry a certificate of course accuracy. The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. We would ask you to remember that we do not have exclusive use of the park and you should be aware that other park users will be on the course.

The route is mostly flat and covers a selection of hard track, tarmac, and a small section on grass. You will pass around various sections of the park alongside the Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club and the Oval Plantation whilst taking in the mixture of scenic woods and lakes. You may even be lucky enough to spot one of the many roaming herds of Red or Fallow Deer that have been known to watch the start of the race on a few occasions!

Raceday Logistics

Let's Do This always recommend that you arrive at least 45 mins before your start time so that you have enough time to both register and prep for the race start.

Facilities:

Toilets

Baggage drop off

Refreshments

First Aid:

St John Ambulance will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.

Results:

Your individual time and position will be recorded by your electronic chip. We will endeavour to display results as they come into the race centre. Results will be uploaded to www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as possible after the race. All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results as soon as possible after the race.

Travel

On foot/by bike:

The park is easily accessible by both foot and cycle. You can leave your bicycles with us at the race registration area whilst you run.

By car:

For those who wish to drive to the event, there is a car park close to the start and adjacent to the Diana Fountain. Remember that the car park is shared with other park users, so you’re advised to arrive as early as you can. Signage will direct you from the park’s car park to the race registration/start area.

There are disabled parking spaces located closer to the start line and if you require the use of one of these parking spaces, please email us and we can send you the details. There is strictly no parking on any grassland or roads within the park. For those using a Sat Nav, the postcode for the event is KT8 9BZ.

By bus:

There are number of buses that travel to Bushy Park and it is then just a short walk from the gate to the event. The buses that travel to Bushy Park are:

  • 111 Kingston – Heathrow
  • 216 Kingston – Staines
  • 411 Kingston – West Molsey
  • 465 Sandy Lane – Fulwell
  • X26 Express service Heathrow – Croydon
  • R68 Hampton Court – Richmond
  • The buses either stop on Hampton Court Road, where Hampton Court Gate is the closest gate, or Sandy Lane, where Teddington Gate is closest. The closest gate to the event is Hampton Court Gate.

By train:

There are three stations surrounding the park – Hampton Court, Hampton Wick, and Teddington – and are all accessible by traveling from London Waterloo. The best station for the event is Hampton Court and it is then a 10-minute walk to the event via Hampton Court Gate.

Volunteers

If you would like to volunteer to help at any of our events, there are a variety of roles available from marshalling to helping with event set-up. We offer our volunteers a free entry to a future race and, in some cases, expenses are available. If interested, please contact: [email protected]

FAQs

How do I attach my timing chip?

Your timing chip is incorporated into your race number and should not be removed. Please place the race number on the front of your vest/shirt and not on your leg or back.

How do I attach my race number?

Please attach your race number to the front of your running top or vest using safety pins or clips, securing it on all four corners. Please don’t attach your number to the back of your shirt as it is difficult for our timekeepers and marshals to identify you.

This is a great little local 10k. The organisers were really welcoming, and the marshalls were enthusiastic. Two laps of a 5k course in the pretty setting of Bushy Park. Great little race to kick-off the year.

Really great local 10k. It's super friendly, all abilities welcome and everything was super efficient on the day - all on time, decent feed station and good bag drop/ registration etc. On the day registration all worked well and was fine. Worth knowing that the loos and the registration tent aren't next to each other (the loos are in the buildings over to the right) so worth getting there 30 mins before. Course was flat and fast - some of it very beautiful near the finish along the lake. Would definitely do again and really liked the 10am start time so not too early an alarm!

Nice course with mix of park path and tarmac. Friendly marshals and chilled, non-competitive atmosphere.
