Route information
This event takes place around the picturesque Bushy Park, anointed as a Royal Park under Henry VIII in 1529.
This is a mixed-terrain course that takes athletes across hard track, tarmac and some grass. The route weaves throughout the park, taking in the Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club and the Oval Club as well as a number of picturesque woods and lakes on show.
This is a fast and flat race - great for that end of season PB. The course will be clearly marked out and friendly marshals will be on-site to deal with any issues.
This is a lapped course, with the 5k race completing it once and the 10k runners doing it twice.

The route was actually 10.5k which disappointingly meant that my finish time tipped over the hour mark. Given this was my 10k target it was a shame to finish this way.

My girlfriend was running with me and she needed women’s sanitary products. None of the organisers or the first aid people had anything for her. I’m sure they would’ve had band aids to treat cuts, so why not tampons?

This was my first Nice Work event, but not my first race attended, so there were a number of things I was expecting to see.The most fundamental one, was signage pointing to where the event was located, or at least the co-ordinates on what3words, as the event village was so distant from the gate.Secondly, I'd expect at least one or two portaloos. The hire of these start from £24 per week, so it would not affect the profit made from the race. Not all runners attending live locally and therefore since their last loo visit and arrival at the location, they may need a last minute bladder relief, especially on such a hot day.Lastly, for the summer months 9am starts would be a lot better, as the air is cooler.I have one more race booked with Nice Work and I am now worried that it'll have a similar vibe.

On the 2nd lap, one of the marshals was missing so I wasn’t 100% sure where to turn. Apart from that, very enjoyable.

Would recommend not cycling for miles to get there especially in a hit day because srsly, I am at death's door now. Small field, stewards very encouraging. More water would have been welcome give how hot it was (only one station) but it was a lot of fun.

thanks to all the lovely volunteers for marshalling/helping with the event on such a hot day!! Couple of thoughts from me: firstly there didn’t seem to be enough Marshalls as certain key points where there were options of routes to follow .. all ok if you have a bunch of runners in front of you but on occasions I didn’t see anyone so had to take pot luck (a friend went completely off track as she wasn’t sure which route to take!). Also at the water station it would have helped to have had a bin a few metres away from the table as you had to stop, drink and then put the cup n the bin liner .. no other option! But like I said really enjoyed it, the volunteers were really supportive and I’m very happy to have completed a 10K .. although in reality it was 10:67K!!!
