Route information
For this unique challenge you have the choice of where you start, how far you choose to run and how you make your way to other locations. There are 4 starting options for your challenge:
  • Bute Park
  • Cardiff Bay
  • Hailey Park
  • Roath Park
This unique course structure has 4 checkpoints around Cardiff and participants have a maximum of 3 and a half hours to run. Participants can choose to start and finish their event at any checkpoint and can run to one, two or all of the checkpoints.
Distances completed will range between 5k and a Half Marathon, depending on how many checkpoints you reach, and that is completely up to you!
The course is a mix of path, road, and trail running. With both flat and undulating sections this challenge is as hard as you make it.
Live results will be available during the race as each runner will scan a QR code on their phone at each checkpoint. Times and distances will then be uploaded so you can check out how you're doing on the live leaderboard.

By Car
Cardiff can be accessed from the M4 from Junctions 29, 30, 31 and 32.
Parking should be available close to each Checkpoint, please note these may be Pay and Display.
By Train
There are a number of stations in Cardiff:
  • Cardiff Bay
  • Cardiff Central
  • Ninian Park
  • Cardiff Queen Street
  • Cathays
This should allow contestants travelling by train to start and finish at any of the Checkpoints.
Event day logistics
08:00-10:00 Challenge Start Window

Entry confirmation will be sent out via email, or within your user profile. This will include all relevant event information and exact locations for the Checkpoints.
You will need access to this on challenge day so please use your phone to check in. Each runner will receive a CheckPoint armband to identify you, so please wear this during the event.
CheckPoint Check In
There will be a marshal at every CheckPoint. The team will have the CheckPoint Challenge signs with QR codes and will be wearing either a marshal jacket or CheckPoint Challenge armband. Exact locations will be sent out prior to the event.

There is a guideline route but you can choose any route you wish to get between CheckPoints.
What will I need to run The Cardiff CheckPoint Run Challenge Race 5?
You'll need your phone to register and to scan the QR code at the checkpoints as well as your usual running gear.
How do I complete each CheckPoint at The Cardiff CheckPoint Run Challenge Race 5?
There will be an event marshall clearly located at each CheckPoint where you are required to scan the QR code.
