The Chillington Hall Half Marathon is a race through the private estate of the Giffard Family. Remaining in their family for 29 generations they are now kindly opening up the beautiful grounds for its inaugural half marathon.

Take in the views and splendour of this wonderful estate as you run through its varied landscape. The course flows past the grand house, through the woodland and on to loop around the beautiful tranquil lake.

The route will be as close to the usual 13.1 miles half marathon distance as we can get it, but never under. It follows the many trails and paths through the beautiful and varied Chillington Estate. Terrain includes grass, fields, mud and gravel. You start near the grand house up and down the main driveway, before leading off to a double loop around the beautiful woodland and lake.

There is a short bit on tarmac near the start and finish area to maximise space for runners to spread out. No killer hills, but some definite uphills with uneven ground in places so trail shoes are recommended. Please stick to the signposted route which follows clear, well defined paths and trails. Marshals will be at various points around the course and another will follow the last runner to ensure everyone gets round safely.

All entrants are expected to be reasonably fit and able to run / jog most of the route without getting into difficulty. There will be 4 water stops along the route at approx 3.5, 6.5, 8.25 and 11 miles.

Although marshalled, you are expected to be able to run, be responsible for your own safety around the course, especially when crossing the small lane at the entrance to Chillington Hall. You need to be aware of traffic so we kindly ask you not to wear head phones etc until you have crossed this small lane.

Event Details

Friends and family are encouraged to come along and there are no additional spectator / parking fees. The start and finish are in the same place and allows them to wave you off and cheer you back in without having to move, but there's always the lovely grounds to explore a good viewing point for the more adventurous.

Am I able to park?

We have arranged plenty of car parking for participants and this is included in your entry fee.

Are there any changing facilities?

You'll need to arrive ready to race as there are no showers / changing rooms on site, only toilets.

Where are the toilets?

Right near the start area, we have also increased the number from last year to minimise queues.

Are these events timed?

Yes, we are using one of the most accurate chip timing systems available today. This doesn't mean you have to be a competitive racing snake to enter, simply everyone will have their time recorded no matter how leisurely you want to get round.

When do I get my race number & timing chip?

You collect these from registration (at the race start area) on race morning, this opens at 09.00am. Please arrive in plenty of time to get yours which will be listed alphabetically (surnames) at the collection point. We will have safety pins available but won't complain if you bring your own!
