A really nice run. Easy access, great parking, well organised and great running by the sea. Start needs to be more structured as too many slower runners up front caused congestion. Couldn't hear the starting briefing. Sand on the course could have been cleared. Great medal. I entered the event very last minute so collected my number on the day. The number collection was well organised. More signage to the nearby toilets would have been helpful. Starting both the 10k and 1/2 marathon is a mistake in my opinion. Although it is a nice idea to start both at the same time the shear number of people at the start made it very overcrowded on the pavement at a few points after I started running I then came to a complete standstill. Also it means that you cannot order yourself according to your finish time at the start of the race. Even starting one race 15 minutes before the other would have helped with the congestion. As the course was advertised as fast and flat, I was not expecting there to be deep sandy patches along the promenade. The headwind on the day was also not very easy to run in although to be expected at a coastal race. The marshals were nice and water stations well stocked with sweets also. The medal was also very nice. Overall was quite well organised, I mostly enjoyed the race in hindsight but I definitely wouldn’t do the half marathon there again.

The Good. The staff were friendly and gave clear instructions. Parking was a breeze. The track marshals were both good to the runners and good at keeping the public out of the way.The Bad.The start was crowded by an ice cream truck making it hard to get in position. We couldn't hear the start signal, nor any of the commentary and warnings before the race. With the 10km and Half Marathon starting at the same time there were many slower runners up the front and due to the path was being narrow for the crowd, the first 2 km was a constant battle to get past teams running 3 abreast and having a chat (I love the social teams, but they shouldn't be up front). There was deep sand on the track for intervals, which can't be helped, but it made between the first turn around and the life guard house like a beach run, and that sand in my shoes wasn't pleasant.

It's was a good run. Needs to be better for you to put your bag's as it was just on the floor. But the longer it goes on the better it will get.

Well organised but we could not hear the safety briefing at the start. Great to hear you name as you crossed the line and the medal was fantastic. The and on the course was hard and I think it could have been cleared to make a path through for both safety and to make the run easier.

My wife has completed this race for the last 3 years and this was my 1st and as I was born and bred in Clacton was really looking forward to it. Parking as always was busy but if you don't mind a short walk to the start then very good. Organisation on the whole was above average however I found this year was a little disappointing for only 2 reasons. The first was the amount of runners,it seemed like it was over subscribed for the course, just after we start everything ground to a halt along the greens way due to some seafront work but then it was busy with a mix of slow and fast paced runners, personally I think if it's over 500 runners you need to think about timed pens just to give everyone a chance of running at there own pace. Secondly was the sand banked up on the promonade, it was at some points about 3 to 4 inches deep and dangerous and there were no warnings and no marshalls near it,I know it's the seaside but fair warning or earl morning path clearing would have been a bonus.Other than that a good flat course except for the prom climbs and lovely cooling sea breeze.

I know I won't be the first to say this as we heard many complaints on the day, but I don't belive it would have been too much to have cleared some of the sand that had blown over the path and place it literally 2 foot away on the beach. It is advertised as a fast flat road course and if you happy to have people with buggys and wheelchairs take part as well as other disabilities, I think this should have been a priority. Having people jump up and down off the wall around the dunes on the path became awkward and dangerous in areas. Also I suggest if there is work on the upper part of the seafront, maybe a staggered start for the 10k and Half would have been better to stop people having to squeeze through the bottle neck and there was no Marshalls visable along the first stretch to guide and keep people who had decided to run along the road instead safe. Lastly, once the half marathon entries started to cross the finish line, maybe don't have a sign that says 'Finish' that is around the corner from the finish line as we saw a few people sprint for this and realised after it was not the end of the race.

Restricted path access after first km made it a little tricky. Really friendly volunteers and nice atmosphere. It would have been helpful for a few stewards on final stretch as it was unclear how to get to finish line. Lovely to look out to the sea.

Overall I thought this was a well organised race, alongside the lovely coastline. The water stations were generally well placed on the course and it was a nice touch that as well as water they included sweets and Jaffa cakes. The volunteers along the course were all friendly and the medal was really nice. While the weather was forecast to be nice it ended up raining for half the race and so when I collected my bag at the end it was wet, so it would be good if for future events the organisers put the baggage check under a marquee. The only real problem with the race was due to the weather a good portion of the lower promenade had heavy sand blown off the beach. This meant a bit of time you were forced to walk as it was difficult to run through. While the weather is out of the organisers control I would hope they could work with the council to clear this away the day before

Overall a lovely run and great atmosphere. Two points:1) The course had two slopes, one gentle the other (from the lower prom to the finish) steeper, needs pointing out. (I do Colchester parkrun do I know about hills!)2) The course has significant sandy patches on the prom causing runners to hop up on step in front of beach huts. This needs pointing out as its a bit tricky running along the narrow bit in front of the huts but also tricky running on the sandI think these aspects should be put in the info. However this was such a good occasion! These things

Loved the race and will be coming back next year! The crowds seemed a little flat and couldnt really hear what was being said on the mic if you wernt right next to the speaker. Medal looks awesome and the location is perfect! Reasonable entry fee, loads of parking and clearly signposted. Really impressed overall.

Difficult start due to vets parked directly behind. Start. Sand not cleared from paths caused walking and bunching. Too few toilets, paper ran out very quickly.

A challenging course, (in the August weather) I was hot and windswept! The pier is insight but always seems so far away!Great medal.More water stations with more water, in stead of flimsy cups, would be good, particularly in the August heat.Didn’t manage to get to the toilet before the start as there was not enough portaloos and the queue was huge.

It's not acceptable for a runner to run with a dog (it wasn't an assistant dog) I reported it to 2 marshals who didn't do anything. Do was unfit and was lame. I told the runner this who didn't care. Spoilt the race for me. More marshals on course next time.

Challenging course, made more so as some of it was virtually impassable due to the deep sand on the path. Advertised as flat, which it is apart from the steep climbs from the lower promenade to the upper promenade. Worst goody bag I have ever received, a bottle of water, one fruit salad chew and a mini packet of love hearts! Disappointed that the 10K finishers got exactly the same medal as the half marathon runners. I would expect to receive something extra for running twice as far! No running club involvement in the event which showed from the less than enthusiastic volunteers. Won't be returning next year.

I loved it! My first ever event and first ever medal. I ran it with my daughter and we are building up to our first half marathon in April next year. The marshalls were very encouraging and really pushed us on. If the piles of sand along the prom could be cleared a bit more that would be easier on the legs!
