Nice friendly welcome. Easy to collect race numbers. Little bit of a walk to official start, but not to long spent waiting for the off. the route was a little more undulating than expected, but was well marshalled and signed. Fast efficient results processing.Overall good value race.

Great event, well organised, well marshaled. Enjoyed even if the weather was horrible. Possible issue with parking but could be due to the new visitor centre being build.

Fantastic challenge as its quite hilly so you need to train adequately for this but its freat fun. The atmosphere was excellent and the marshalls did a fantastic job as you will meet oncoming traffic so it really couldnt take place without them. Great challenge though I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Signed up on the day, had to give back the medal I collected at the finish line because of this... (Was told one would be posted to me)The course was great apart from having to use a single file path at the end which stopped me from overtaking 2 people. Was a tough run with a few hill climbs!

I loved every minute. Loads of support from the marshals and Scouts with drinks. I will do it again.

Really a good small town run half marathon. Weather was - well like you'd expect on a February morning, almost 500 people took part and was well set up. I missed 1 or 2 of the mileage boards around the race rather than them not being set up and the country lanes were very pretty. But you had to be aware cars - the odd car did force the race to compress and in the last mile running on the pavement knocked off a couple of minutes of time as just could not pass another contestant, otherwise all good stuff. Practice run for end of April and a full marathon.

More knowledge on the course would have been helpful. The description said challenging but this course was a lot more than challenging!

Challenging and somewhat undulating. But I achieved what I set out to do and had a great run. Well marshalled, well organised and enjoyable! Thank you to everybody involved. I would just like to know where the photos from the course are?

Get directionsExternalLink

The Deal Half Marathon takes place at Betteshanger Country Park (formerly Fowlmead) and is accessible by car, rail - and, of course, on foot and by bike.

The park is accessible by foot via two entrances. The main entrance is off the main roundabout at Shodlen on the A258 Deal to Sandwich Road. The rear gate entrance is a 15 minute walk from Southwall Road, Deal.

For those who wish to drive to the event there is ample parking available at the Race HQ. The park is located just off the A258 approximately 2 miles from Deal, Kent. It is within 10 miles of the A2 at Whitfield. Please note that there is a charge for the car park (£2 per day); however, it gives you a full day's parking, so we encourage runners and spectators to make the most of the visit and take a look around the country park.

The closest railway stations are Deal and Sandwich. You will then need to get a taxi or cycle to the event.
