Organisation on the day was good, but I felt the pre-event info was a little confusing. For example the wave times were not on the web page, but in an email, and then I got an email saying they had changed (but not what to). Also something locked me out of my LetsDoThis account the night before.

Great for my first tri. There were enough noobs to make it less intimidating. But also plenty of seriously good athletes around for the spectators to have something decent to watch!

This was my first ever triathlon. Arrived at 8:30am by car, registration was easy and racking was simple. You could rack anywhere, it wasn't assigned. Dorney Lake was a tad cold, at 12.8C, so wetsuits were compulsory. At the start we got a quick briefing and then got into the water for 2 minutes before setting off. The swim was crowded, but the course was easy to follow, with two giant buoys to get around. The exit of the lake was very slippery because of some algae. The bike course was really fun, 4 lap of closed, flat roads by the lake with lots of visibility and space to overtake. The run was 2 out-and-back loops of the lower path next to the lake, a bit narrow for overtaking, and slightly boring just in a straight line, but it did the job. At the finish was water, nutrition bar and sweets. The medal is cool too. The organisation was flawless from start to finish, these guys know what they're doing. The crowd wasn't big or loud, and focused around the transition area, but still great to have the support. I would definitely do this event again, it's perfect for a first-timer as everyone was so friendly, there was a very relaxed atmosphere. Despite getting a puncture on the bike course I still had a great time at my first tri event.
