The Fugitive routes

All the events begin at the beautiful Higginson Park on the banks of the River Thames

  • The course measures 85.6km

Run Course:

  • The run course is a 5km loop along tarmac and grass footpaths
  • The course winds its way back towards Marlow and finishes at Higginson Park
  • Competitors will complete 4 laps

Aqua Bike

Swim Course:

  • The swim course is in the River Thames, which should help those split times
  • Middle Distance competitors will swim a 1900 lap course in the Thames

Bike Course:

  • The route is undulating but mostly it is a fast and flat course
  • The Middle Distance cycle is 85.6km and features a popular three lap course at the far end of the route

River Swim

  • There are two distances available catering to all levels of swimmers 1.5km and 3km
  • The course is a single out and back lap swim in the River Thames
  • Generally the flow of the river is calm and steady

Triathlon

Swim Course:

  • The swim takes place in the River Thames
  • Sprint competitors will swim 750m, Olympic competitors 1.5km and Middle Distance Competitors 1.9km

  • The bike course is out and back
  • It features two mid level hills but otherwise it is flat and fast

  • Middle Distance Competitors will cycle 85.6km due to the additional three lap course at the far end of the Olympic route

Run Course:

  • The run course is a 5km loop along tarmac and grass footpaths

Did the Olympic Distance Triathlon in 2019

Swim was marked well enough. Transition area could have been bigger (more than enough room). Bike course signage could be a bit more frequent to reassure leaders as to which direction to be heading. Run course signage was perfect.

Very good pre race info. Everyone REALLY friendly! Great, quick race timings. Two things that couldn’t be improved. Transition area too small so bikes everywhere. Numbered racking much better/safer. Signage not great, eg on bike route not clear which race was which direction. Swim end hard to see- would be better with bug buoy/sign! Thank you all. Oh yes, no race t shirt and few healthy snacks options after but entry fee low so maybe that’s why?
