Route information
All routes are a mixture of on and off-road. There are 7 different routes all starting and finishing here at The Academy.
We pride ourselves on a well signed course, provide you with a map (and instructions on a trail route) and every morning we hold a briefing, you can download your route onto Garmin, Endomondo or GPX.
HOWEVER - there is a clue in our name - this is a 'challenge' - our routes are on rural roads, and sometimes across fields, we sometimes have to deal with signs being removed or flooded roads.

There are toilets and refreshments along the route and for those who complete their distance there is a medal waiting at the finish line, with a special trophy for those completing all ten Marathons. Event day logistics
The start times are at 8am every day to ensure the checkpoints are in place for you, except For safety reasons the start time in the Summer for the Thetford course is at 10:00am.
The ultra runners also start at 8am, however, they will do one of our 6 mile routes after completing the marathon route. This will give you an option to call it a day at the marathon distance or continue on to do the ultra, and enables us to use the start/finish line as the last checkpoint and refreshments.
There is a cut-off time of 7 hrs for both the Marathon and the Ultra Marathon. For the marathon you must reach the last checkpoint in 5hrs 30mins to be allowed to carry on. Those who do not make the cut off will be collected by car and returned to the Academy. For the Ultras you must complete the marathon distance in 5hrs 30mins to be allowed to go out on the 10km ultra loop.
