Route information
The Elysium Healthcare Great West Run Half Marathon takes an exciting 13.1 mile route through the heart of Exeter. This route has it all; a journey through the city centre, followed by pretty country lanes, stunning views, and a fantastic stadium finish.
There will be 5 drinks stations on route.
The 10k route follows the first and final 3 miles of the Half marathon route.
The Community Mile is designed to encourage first-time runners, families, and friends to come together and challenge themselves to get active for a fitter, healthier life.

There is no official race parking. If you are coming by car you are encouraged to car pool, arrive early and use the 'Pay and Display' parking in the city centre. There will be shuttle tickets available on the Great West Run's website, so please purchase one of these if you plan on getting a shuttle to the race venue.
Shuttle Bus
Shuttle Bus tickets are available to purchase at registration, please select the ticket including the shuttle bus return.
Buses will depart from Exeter city centre (original) bus station from Stand 7 between 07:00 and 07:45. Runners are encouraged to arrive early as this is a popular option and will be busy. The last bus will depart at 07:45 and will arrive at the arena at 08:00.
There will be a return service pick up from Whipton Village shops on Pinhoe Rd. from 11:15.

*Participants falling behind the pace required to finish by 12:30 will be asked to move to the pavement.
Race Packs
Race packs will be sent out to participants 2 weeks before race day. This pack will include your race number, bag label, and race instructions.
Race numbers will have your timing chips attached and must be attached to your front with 4 safety pins. Please ensure you have filled out the personal details on the reverse o the number and that your number is clearly visible to the medical team.
Cut-off Times
Runners will have 3 hours to complete the Half Marathon as this is when the roads will reopen and must reach the 4-mile mark within 1 hour 10 minutes.
Any participant after this time will be redirected right along Cowley Bridge Road to follow the remainder of the route along the footpaths.
Trees Not Tees
This event is proud to be partner of Trees Not Trees, who will be planting a tree for every participant instead of race t-shirts.
Bag Drop
There will be a bag drop located within the event village, which is left at the owner's risk. Please use the baggage label in your race pack when using the bag drop.
Start Assembly
Runners should line up in the appropriate zone relating to your estimated finish times.
Prizes
There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place men and women who will be awarded on the main stage post race. These prizes will be determined based on gun time, in accordance with UKA Athletics Rules.

- Drink Station 1 - Pinhoe Road (by St Marks Church outward)
- Drink Station 2 - Cowley Bridge Road (by Steiner Academy outward)
- Drink Station 3 - Stoke Road (by Pennsylvania Road on return)
- Drink Station 4 & HIGH 5 ENERGY GELS - Cowley Bridge Road (by Steiner Academy on return)
- Drink Station 5 - Prince of Wales Road (by Devon and Exeter Squash Club)
- Drink Station 6 - Pinhoe Road (by St Marks Church on return)

The course closes at 12.30, allowing you 3.5 hours to complete the half marathon.

Yes. There are pacers from 1 hour 30 minutes at 15 minutes intervals up to 2 hours 30 minutes.

Runners are advised against the use of iPods, MP3 players or other personal stereo devices to ensure runners are able to hear any announcements or medical alerts.
Is there an age requirement to take part in The Elysium Healthcare Great West Run?
Yes, entrants must be 17 and over on race day. Anyone younger can take part in the community mile.
Is there somewhere I can leave my bag while I race in The Elysium Healthcare Great West Run?
There will be a limited bag drop at the event but please only bring essential items to help reduce contact between staff and participants.
