About this event

Can you take on The Gurkha Doko Challenge? Have you got what it takes to match the ‘bravest of the brave’? Based on the traditional Gurkha Recruitment Doko race, this challenge sees a 5km run carrying a traditional Doko basket weighing either 5kg, 10kg or 15kg with a time to beat of 46 minutes- are you up for it? Fundraising \- The fundraising target for The Gurkha Doko Challenge is £150 per person.

• Race Pack - collected at registration on the morning of the challenge

• Doko basket for the race with your chosen weight fitted properly by Gurkha soldier

Route description

Based on the traditional Gurkha Recruitment Doko race, this challenge sees a 5km run carrying a traditional Doko basket weighing either 5kg, 10kg or 15kg with a time to beat of 46 minutes

Logistics and schedule

Key timings:

9.00am: Registration desk and bag drop facilities open
9.30am: Start area open for Doko fitting
9.40am: Welcome address
9.45am: Warm up
10.00am: First wave starts
11.30am: Curry station opens and last wave starts
2.00pm: Curry station closes
3.00pm: Site closes

Will there be refreshments available around the course?
No, water will be available to participants at the finish line. Please come to the race hydrated and bring any drinks or foods you will need for pre, during and post-challenge.

What happens if I don’t make the 46 minute Doko Challenge finish time?
Don’t worry! You can finish the challenge in your own time.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to come and cheer on family and friends throughout the event

Yes, there is free parking available on the event site. Look out for the road signs on arrival!

When will I receive my official time?
At the end of the race, you will be able to check your race time immediately and all finish times can be checked online after the event.

Is there a baggage drop facility?
Yes, there will be a baggage drop tent available for participants if necessary. Although the baggage area will be manned throughout the day, the event staff cannot take any responsibility for your belongings. Please bring minimal kit to the site.
