The Heb will be easy to take part in, but still a tough challenge and certainly all the adventure, excitement and fun. Perfect for racers, achievable for newcomers, and everyone in between. Entries will be welcome from Solos and Pairs.
The Heb is brought to you by Durty Events, featured several times on the BBC2 Adventure Show and winner of British Triathlon.
Day 1
Day 1 will have you getting involved in a multitude of events from running to kayaking, the course will be laid out as follows:
  • 1k: Run
  • 19k: Cycle
  • 22k: Cycle
  • 2-8k: Run
  • 22k: Cycle
  • 3k: Kayak
  • 23k: Cycle
  • 4-16k: Run
  • 17k: Cycle
  • Finish in Benbecula
Day 2
Day 2 begins in Benbecula and finishes in South Uist, the course for this day will be laid out as follows:
  • 17k: Cycle
  • 3-18k: Run
  • 27k: Cycle
  • 4k: Kayak
  • 3k: Run

Parking
Car Parking charged in Mallaig will have to be paid for by yourself. You should be able to find free on-street parking within walking distance from the ferry.
Bike Transfer
Your bike will be loaded onto a truck in Mallaig. Please remove your pedals before the event. Your bike will be loaded into trucks to the event.
The Ferry
After collecting your tickets from the ferry terminal, you'll be travelling as a foot passenger on the ferry.
Transfers - Sunday and Monday
You'll be packing up your camping kit at Otters Edge Campsite (Benbecula) on Sunday morning. Pack it into your kit bag and load it into the trucks at the campsite. Your kit will be moved back to Kilbride Campsite in time for your arrival on Sunday afternoon.
Camping
Friday night and Saturday night will be spent at Otters Edge Campsite, Lionaclete, Benbecula, HS7 5PJ.
Sunday night will be at Kilbride Campsite, at the south end of South Ulst. There are toilets, showers, basic kitchen facilities and a café on site.

13:00 - 14:30 Arrive in Mallaig, get to the ferry terminal and collect ferry tickets
15:15 Board the ferry
16:00 Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry leaves Mallaig
16:15 Registration on-board ferry
19:30 Arrive in lochboisdale
19:30 Load Participants onto coaches and drive to Benbecula
20:15 Vans with bikes will deliver bikes to campsite on Benbecula
Late Set up camp at the Ottersedge Campsite, Benbecula

What's not included in your entry
  • Car Parking charges in Mallaig
  • Accommodation other than camping facilities (tents only) at each stopover location.
  • Pitch fees for camper vans, these will need to be booked and paid for by you.
  • Transfer of camper vans from Benbecula to South Uist, if you choose to bring a camper van, this is a logistic that you will need to work out for yourself.
  • Food other than breakfasts and evening meals on Saturday and Sunday.
Camping Facilities
There are toilets and showers on-site at the campsite.
Race Rules
No Litter at all
  • Highway Code rules apply at all times
  • Scottish Outdoor Access code applies at all times
  • Be respectful of one another on the trails, roads and beaches
  • Be especially respectful of island residents, crofters etc. and their work/privacy. Keep a safe distance from any works
  • Pairs: you must stay together (i.e. can easily communicate verbally) at all times
  • Report to the finish each day, irrespective of whether you are bailing out or not
  • No pre-placing, stashing or abandoning of kit/supplies etc
  • Wear your race number and bike number visible at all times.
  • You must carry any kit determined as ‘mandatory’ at race briefing and any lists that are issued. You need to carry your running kit whilst cycling.
  • Some checkpoints are deemed ‘Mandatory’ as are route descriptions as defined in the Race Book. Ignoring will incur a substantial time penalty, and potentially disqualification
  • You are responsible for following the correct racecourse
  • GPS Devices are allowed
  • No Cheating
  • Paul & Diane are the race jury, and their decision on infringements and penalties is final

Can I camp in a campervan at The Heb?
You are allowed to camp in a campervan, however you will have to pay for transfer of Campervans from Benbecula to South Uist as well as pay extra for campervan pitch fees.
