Traigh Mhor beach forms one of Britain’s most interesting airports as the sandy shore becomes a runway for the island. A notable stop on the loop is the southern tip of Vatersay, the most southern point of the journey and the official start of the Hebridean Way.
Day 3
Barra to North Uist
69 miles
The first big day of cycling takes in 6 islands: Barra, Eriksay, South Uist, Benbecula, Grimsay, and North Uist. A ferry will take the group from Barra to Eriksay in the morning, whilst all the other islands are linked by causeways and navigable by bike. The islands will be predominantly flat, with beautiful lochs and lochans.
