About
A testing hilly half marathon run over the Quantock Hills. With a total ascent of over 1100ft this is probably one of the toughest road races in the County. But on a clear day you will be rewarded with views of the County one way and the Bristol Channel and South Wales the other! Also 7.2k Humdinger Hurtle.

Definitely worth having a look at the course profile in advance so you know when to up the pace or when to ease off.

A very hilly half marathon through beautiful country lanes with great views. However most of the uphills were over by half way round, so you can enjoy the second half more with the hard work done.

Make sure you do some hill training as the first six miles are uphill all the way! You may want to take an energy gel or jelly babies to give you that extra boost of energy after the 'Humdinger hill' and to power through the last five miles!

Advise that the start is a short distance away from HQ.There was also confusion aboutwhetger the hurtle was starting at the same time as the humdinger half. Clarification on this at race brief would be good. It was hearsay I was fully prepared to go with mass start. Overall great event very friendly.

Really tough hilly run but the views were amazing. It's a lot of climbing so practice some hills before hand. Water stations are c 2, 5.5 and 10 miles. It's worth checking out the course beforehand if you can or at least the profile and route. A really good event for building towards a marathon and a half.

Some gruelling uphills and some fast downhills. Don't try to slow yourself, just let momentum carry you and you'll make up time lost on the uphills.
