Route information
This unique event is Scotland's only ultra marathon that takes place entirely at night and promises to be an unforgettable experience as runners grapple with mixed terrain and the thrill of running under cover of darkness. Set along the picturesque Golf Coast in East Lothian, runners will complete as many laps of the well-marked, 5k off-road trail within 6 hours as they can. The route takes them along the John Muir Way, a historic path spanning 215k from Helensburgh in the west to Dunbar in the east.
With both solo and relay events on offer, this is the perfect event to tackle with friends for a memorable November night. Tackle as many or as few laps of the course as you like!
On each lap of the loop, runners will pass through the base checkpoint, where runners can leave food, kit and support crews. The race HQ will have plenty of lights and music to make for a vibrant event atmosphere.

Balgone Estate is a short, 10-minute drive from the nearby town of North Berwick. It is accessible off of the A1, between Haddington and Dunbar.

There will be parking available at Balgone Estate and Farm for participants to use.

The nearest train station is located at North Berwick, which has regular trains to and from Edinburgh.

Yes, marshals are needed to man the checkpoint, water station, race registration, start and finish line and to supervise set up and take down. Volunteers will receive a race momento and donation towards their club or charitable group as a thank you!
