Route information
The Lucky Horseshoe
Come and join us at our exclusive venue at Suffolk Running Centre, Church Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5AX
It's a seven-hour cut off, (if you start at 9am, and 5hour event if you start at 11am).
Your race, your pace, your distance!
This race offers you a number of distance choices - 5k, 10k, Half, Full or Ultra
This route is an out and back, making it a very social route.
The marathon will be one full loop (out and back), and all other distances will have turnaround points.
We will be utilising the Gallops Route
This is a fairly new route to the SRC, it takes you through to Newmarket to the Gallops you may get to see the race horses in training
There will be an aid station of drinks and nibbles every 10k.
Parking is also included in your entry price.
The Race HQ/Base Camp is located at the start and Lap point and at the base camp we will have our water/aid station.
Upon entry you will receive an email confirmation from your entry portal and Zig Zag Running. This will also contain the link to the race briefing information pack.
We have designed a Bespoke medal for the event, which you will receive at the end of the race. Or if you choose the lucky dip finisher option (if available), you will choose from a selection of previous or finisher medal.
Please note the event has gone cupless - so please bring your own bottles or cups for refilling.

There will be free parking available on site. Please use the postcode IP29 5AX to find where to park.

Waves
Participants have the choice to start their race at 9 am or 11 am. Please note that both waves will end at 4 pm, meaning those in the second wave will have a shorter time limit than those in the first wave.
Race Packs
Race bibs will be collected on the day from registration.
Age Restrictions
All entrants must be 18 and older to enter the event.
Water/Aid Station
There will be a water/aid station at Race HQ, which will be situated at the start and lap point of the route.
Bag Drop
There will be a space for runners to leave their bags and belongings, however they are left at your own risk and should not contain valuables. It is advised by the organiser to leave your belongings in your car, keeping valuables out of sight.
Lucky Dip Medal
The lucky dip medal (where available as an option) gives runners a chance of receiving a previous Zig Zag Events medal for a slightly reduced cost. This can be chosen when registering and ensures a little surprise on event day.
Cupless Event
Please note the event has gone cupless, so please bring your own water bottle to the event.
FAQs
How long do I have to run my chosen distance at The Lucky Horseshoe Challenge?
The entire race lasts 7 hours. If you enter in the first wave you will have a 7-hour time limit and if you enter in the second wave, you will have a 5-hour time limit.
Is there somewhere to leave my bag in the Lucky Horseshoe Challenge?
The car park will be very close to the start/finish so participants are more than welcome to leave their items in their cars. For those who don't come by car, there will be attendants at the event site to help you find somewhere to leave your items.
What qualifies me to run as an affiliated candidate at The Lucky Horseshoe Challenge?
Participants must be affiliated with a EA/UKA club and have an EA/UKA number to qualify as an affiliated candidate.
