Maverick Race
Maverick Race is undoubtedly one of the best trail running organisers in the UK. The company was started down on the Jurassic Coast back in 2013 by Ben and Justin. Since then they’ve delivered events which are guaranteed to take you to some of the most scenic locations in the UK. However, what really separates Maverick is their strive for inclusivity in the outdoors. From 6km entry level runs to 50km ultra marathons, there really is something for everyone. Afterwards you’ll find everyone hanging around, enjoying some fresh pizza, and speaking to like minded people with a shared passion for trail running.

The runners on the mid length course all got stuck crossing the railway on the route out. There should at least have been a Marshall next to the railway line telling when people show cross. When we crossed the queue bottlenecks and suddenly stopped so we were left standing on the railway line waiting for the queue to clear. Thankfully it did not take long.

Too many people at the start line and the early part of the course, the narrow parts early on cannot cope with such a volume of people. An earlier / staggered start would be better. Start dog owners at a different time, consider earlier start for long route runners. Beautiful scenic course.

My only criticism was the congratulation at 2 gates in the early part of the run.

Best running event I completed this year. Challenging, technical hills, great atmosphere and friendly participants and an incredibly well marked course over the NDW. Really well organised.

I had a great time however There were a couple of things that could have made it better. The cutoff for the long course came too early really. We may have chosen differently if it had been at a slightly later point We were still feeling too good!! The aid station on the long route was too far round the course, with second station shortly after in big scheme of things! The hill was a killer however the aid station was a blessing at that point We were some the last to come through the finish and felt a bit cheated but we underst and that everyone has homes to go to. However I had a great fun and would do it again

Staggered starts would have helped with crowding at the start of the race but overall we loved it!!
