WOW! Running in the dark with Maverick really is something special. So peaceful yet thrilling. The event village is magical (even if it rains!) in part because of the wonderful team behind these events that help them run smoothly and create great courses that are well marked even in the dark - yes for glow sticks! And they even make those incredible light photos for you, for free!

Favourite race series ! Start / finish line vibes are second to none. Really well organised and a fantastic route with great course marking
  • Did the event in 2018

Despite the torrential rain I loved this run. The course was well marked and runnable in the dark. This was my first maverick race and it wont be my last
  • Did the event in 2018

You need a proper headtorch to run in confidence, It was hard rain and muddy so nee a proper soft ground trail running shoes, otherwise a normal trail running shoes would be fine.
  • Did the event in 2018

The race was awesome. The ridiculous amount of rain only added to the atmosphere. I've never run uphill through such heavy streams before and it made for an unforgettable experience. The event village was bigger and better than last year, and the fires were a nice touch (if eventually fighting a losing battle). The only downside was waiting at the start for the safety / directional announcements. It was freezing cold, with torrential rain and you couldn't hear a word the announcer was saying. Five minutes of getting cold, when it would have been better for everyone just to start the race. Apart from that understandable low point, the rest was a blast.
