The only thing I would say is that make sure the half marathon mandatory kit on the website matches the race brief because I went with the website as a quick reference and no foil blanket is mentioned. If I was given a spot check I was ready to defend myself.

Everything was amazing!!!...except the station: almost invisible, very little food and drinks, little help, not always checked on the bib. The idea of eco friendly no plastic is excellent but requires more organisation to still look like and be a station!!But again, apart from that, great job of the Marshall, and great venue at start and finish!!

I've been training for long distance for around 4 months now but the terrain and weather conditions on this run really challenged me and loved it :) Great scenery and awesome location. Will be recommending this to people.

One of the toughest races I have done but really enjoyed it. Great atmosphere, fab Marshall's, stunning views. Very well organised. Nice t shirt and buff. My only complaint is that I now have to come back next year to get the left foot medal.

A real challenge of a course with tough, steep climbs and tricky twisting descents as well as a little mud (although not as much as I expected bearing in mind the heavy rain of the day before) made for a great day out. The 6 mile road and track section is the only reason I didn't give the course 5 stars but perhaps I'm being a bit picky. Everything from arrival, number collection through the race brief and kit check went very smoothly. The facilities in the National Sailng Academy were excellent and the fact that the race is able to start 'indoors' was a real blessing with a biting NorthWind meaning that it was a tough day to be hanging around outside. After a gentle start the route hit a hard climb up to the Verne and then looped around the prison (past the excellent and quite excitable marshals) before a twisty decent to the coast path which gradually became more technical with plenty of rocks to skip over (or avoid). This was followed by a climb back up to a brief road section and then some quite fast steps back down to more rocks and then the 'sprint' to the lighthouse at the tip of the Bill. From there it was a long steady climb along the grassy track (into the biting wind this year) and then a bit more road, a quarry with more supportive marshals and then the steep descent to the middle road section and the turn around point. The start of the return leg was marked by the arrival of the Half Marathon runners who started behind the marathon with the opportunity for encouragement given and received before the steep climb back to the top of the Island and the chance to experience the great scenery in reverse (except this time on tired legs).Overall the atmosphere could not have been better with brilliant Marshals and and really well marked course. It's clear that BustinSkin have put a lot into making this a great event.

An excellent race with a bit of everything...challenging ups, technical downs, a mixture of terrain underfoot, head winds, side winds, tail winds and views to die for which will keep you going to the end. A nice tech t-shirt, meal and buff at the end of the race are a bonus. Very handy to have big changing rooms and warm showers at the finish area.
