Course Details

The Richmond Park 10k course is a two lap route covering the paths and trails within the boundaries of Richmond Park. The course has been measured using a GPS and, because of its multi terrain nature, cannot carry an official course measurement certificate. The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. We would ask you to remember that we do not have exclusive use of the park and you should be aware that other park users will be on the course.

The route is an undulating course with no significantly testing hills and covers a selection of hard track, tarmac with a small section on grass. You will pass around various sections of the park through Sheen Wood and past the Teck Plantation. You will also pass Bishops Pond and Richmond Gate. You may even be lucky enough to spot one of the many roaming herds of Red or Fallow Deer that have been known to watch the race as you pass down Sawyers Hill on a few occasions!

Getting there on foot and by bicycle

The park is accessible by both foot and cycle, although it is around a long walk from Richmond. The start and finish of the race is on the Mortlake and Barnes side of the park. If you choose to cycle to the event you can leave your cycles with us at the race registration area whilst you run.

Getting there by car

For those who wish to drive to the event there is a car park adjacent to the race HQ and start. Remember that the car park is shared with other park users, so you’re advised to arrive as early as you can. You will be able to see the registration/start area from the car park and there will be signage to direct you. There is strictly no parking on any grassland or roads. For those using a Sat Nav the postcode for the event is SW14 8BJ.

Getting there by bus

There are number of buses that travel to Richmond Park, however it is a large park so you will need to get buses which arrive at the North side of the park and alight at Bus Stop N and it is then a 10 minute walk from Upper Richmond Road to the event. The buses that travel to Richmond Park are:

  • 190 Hammersmith – Richmond
  • 391 Hammersmith – Richmond
  • 419 Hammersmith – Richmond
  • R68 Bushy Park and Richmond

Specific Northside busses are

  • 33 Hammersmith – Richmond
  • 337 Richmond – Clapham Junction
  • 485 Richmond – Wandsworth

Getting there by train

There are three stations surrounding the park and these are Richmond, Mortlake and Barnes. The closest station to the start and race HQ is Mortlake and it is then a 20 minute walk from the station to the park.

First Aid

St John’s Ambulance will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.

Great event for the New Year! Beautiful section of Richmond park and well-organised. Fun atmosphere at the end.

It was great, I loved the scenery, the deer and the mince pies afterwards were definitely welcome! Would run again.

This was my first 10k, and I enjoyed the run! Being in Richmond Park, I was able to distract myself with animal spotting when it got tough. My only tiny gripes were around the fact that advertising mentioned free "goodies" which to me suggested things like energy bars, but turned out to be biscuits and mine pies, and that it also mentioned a spot prize that didn't seem to happen (we stayed for the prize ceremony).

Very good event. Course was great. Marshals were great! Only points I would make would be..... Toilets were quite far away from start line and were the park ones. These got very busy before the race. Especially for the women. I would suggest portable toilets closer to the start line. The awards at the end were given out too close to the finish line. Some athletes were still finishing and some people were watching the bottles of wine being handed out, standing in the way.

Lovely undulating 2 lap course through Richmond Park. Well organised, friendly marshals and a decent medal!

Unfortunately I was unable to run the 10k due to illness but my son, Number 184, did the 10k and loved it!

An awesome way to start the new year. Low key, no pressure and a great course. Always nice to get a medal at the end as well!
  • Did the 5k in 2019

This is a great, relaxed Sunday morning event. Registration is quick and easy and the course is a mixture of trails and paths within Richmond Park. Really well organised and the marshals were great!
