Route information
Observe the breathtaking scenery of the Rhymney Valley as you traverse this 30 mile Ultra’s challenging and hilly course. Only a short distance away from Cardiff, you will cover a total of 4252 feet of elevation. The fully way-marked route will guide you along footpaths that circle the River Rhymney. Breathtaking views are guaranteed as you ascend the trialling hills. Feel the lactic settle in you legs as you take on the infamous 362 metre climb to Mynydd Machen. This route is not for the faint-hearted so take your time to fully enjoy this experience as the picturesque scenery settles into the foreground.

Get full directionsBy Car
The start line located at Parc Penalta is a 3 hour drive from London. Take the M4 exiting at junction 27 (B4591) to High Cross, where you will continue to Caerphilly County Borough.
By Train
From Paddington station take the Swansea bound train to Cardiff Central station. From Cardiff Central Station you can change to the Transport for Wales service to Rhymney getting off at Ystrad Mynach where you can take a 4 minute bus or a brisk 1.4 mile walk to Parc Penalta.
