Join Pegasus Ultra Running for an exhilarating 30 mile ultra marathon around the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk, with 4252 feet of elevation this little beast in the East is a great way to explore the lesser known trails within a stones throw of the Welsh Capital.
The Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk
The Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk is a waymarked long distance footpath in Wales forming a circular walk around the ridge tops of Caerphilly basin encircling the River Rhymney. From the elevated ridgeway you can expect spectacular views across south east Wales as well as a varied route encompassing lanes, trail and woodland.
Point of Interest
Mynydd Machen is the highest point of the trail, a 362-metre-high (1,188 ft) hill lying between the town of Risca and the village of Machen in Caerphilly County Borough in south Wales. Yep… You go up and over it!

The start line located at Parc Penalta is a 3 hour drive from London. Take the M4 exiting at junction 27 (B4591) to High Cross, where you will continue to Caerphilly County Borough.
By Train
From Paddington station take the Swansea bound train to Cardiff Central station. From Cardiff Central Station you can change to the Transport for Wales service Rhymney getting off at Ystrad Mynach where you can take a 4 minute bus or a brisk 1.4 mile walk to Parc Penalta.
