The River Spey is a river in the northeast of Scotland. It is the ninth longest river in the United Kingdom, as well as the third longest and fastest-flowing river in Scotland. It is important for salmon fishing and whisky production. This is an unique swim which takes swimmers through the RSPB Insh Marshes nature reserve.

Route information
The swim will start in Kingussie, the capital of Badenoch in the Scottish Highlands. It’s a small, lively town right beside the famous river Spey in the midst of the glorious Cairngorms National Park and almost exactly in the centre of Scotland!
Surrounded by stunning landscape where sports of every kind can be enjoyed from cycling to skiing, golf and fishing to watersports, walking and much more, Kingussie is a paradise for outdoor activities and for those who appreciate invigorating Highland air, dramatic scenery and Highland hospitality.
Travelling down the River Spey towards Loch Insh through the RSPB Insh Marshes nature reserve there is ample opportunity to encounter some of Scotland's resident birds and wildlife including ospreys and salmon
The finish will be at Loch Insh Watersports Centre which is set in 14 acres of stunning native woodlands situated on the shores of Loch Insh in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, the Centre has something to offer all types of adventure seeker or to be able to relax and enjoy the scenery.
If the 10k swim is a bit on the long side for you we will be holding a 1, 3 & 5k swims at Loch Insh Watersports in the afternoon.
