Kicking off in Kinlochleven on the dramatic shoreline of Loch Leven, THE ROC Scotland starts with a 1.5km swim before heading off 27km on ‘gravel/mountain’ bike round the northeast end of the stunning loch and up into the Glens, joining the old military trail road to Fort William and Glen Nevis Transition at the western end of the Grampian Mountains.
The race then heads off on foot up the UK’s highest mountain, with 4,265 feet of intense assent to the summit of Ben Nevis and a 17km total trek up and down. The return bike leg takes you 26km back to Kinlochleven and a 1.5km trail run to the finish line in the centre of the village.

Kinlochleven is a 15-minute drive from Glencoe via the B863. Glencoe can be reached by taking the A82, which heads northwards from Glasgow.
Parking
There is parking right next to the transition and registration area. It is charged for. Other options are available a short distance away.
By Public Transport
The closest train station is in Fort William. From Fort William, the N44 bus takes you directly to Kinlochleven.

12:30 Ben Nevis 5k cut-off (must reach in time to go on to the summit)
Age Requirements
Participants must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
Race Packs
You will receive a digital race pack 3 weeks before the race and a final one a week before the race confirming any final details. This will include information on where you can collect your timing tags, and bibs on the day of the race.
Registration
At registration you will receive a drawstring bag which you must put your mountain rucksack and kit in.
The drawstring bag will be taken to T2 at Ben Nevis Log Cabins where it will be ready for you.
Transitions
- Transitions 1 and 4 are positioned near the start/finish lines.
- Transitions 2 and 3 are positioned at the Ben Nevis Log Cabin in Glen Nevis.
Aid Stations
Aid stations will be located at the following points:
- Glen Nevis (T2 & T3)
- 5k Ben Nevis Checkpoint (emergency only)
- Summit Checkpoint (emergency only)
- North Ballachulish (bike route half way point both directions)
Prizes
There will be £1,000 prize money and a trophy for the first man and first woman.
Spectator Info
Spectating can be a lot of fun at this event. Base yourself at Kinlochleven for the start to watch the swim and first transition, then drive over to Glen Nevis to T2 and watch them arrive and head off up Ben Nevis. Try a bit of the mighty Ben yourself before returning back to Kinlochleven for the finish and lots of celebrations, music and euphoria!
