The Royal Borough of Kingston Half Marathon route

Join over a thousand like-minded runners and speed through the streets and stunning scenes of the historic Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Starting and finishing in the famous Ancient Market Place, runners will spend the first 5 miles winding their way along the flat, tarmac streets before heading to the river. Once at the river, runners will speed along the beautiful Barge Walk, offering 3 miles of riverside views as they approach the magnificent Hampton Court Palace.

After enjoying palatial views, runners will head through Thames Ditton before turning and heading back to the finish at the Market Place, where they will be spurred across the finish line to thunderous cheers of the awesome crowd that gathers there to support the event.

The course will be run on closed roads so you can focus on running your best race.

Raceday Logistics

Packet Pickup:

  • Packets can be collected from the Up and Running store in Surbiton at dates and times that will be communicated via email to entrants.
  • They can also be collected on the day but please arrive early to ensure you have enough time

Schedule:

08:30: Race Start

Please arrive at least an hour before race time to ensure plenty of time for race number collection, warm up, and lining up.

Bag Drop:

There will be bag drop facilities available at Race HQ in the Market Place.

Toilets:

Toilet facilities will be available at the event close to the start line. There will also be small number of portable toilets available on route at approx 8.5 miles.

Finish Line Logistics:

The timing chip inside your number will record your race time as you cross the line. Make certain that you run over the matting in the finish funnel, this will ensure that your chip is registered. Once you have crossed the finish line, don’t stop, keep moving to the end of the funnels; stay in the exact order in which you have finished. Please don’t get ahead of anyone in the finish funnels. This is very important for accurate timing and placing. If someone gets in front of you, politely ask them to go back, they may not only get your hard earned place and time, but they may also mess the whole results up.

Spectators

Spectators are more than welcome to watch the race from any place on the course. The finish line at the Market Place is an excellent location to get involved with the action and cheer the runners on as they cross the line.

Volunteers

Volunteers Needed

A lot of support comes from charities and members of the local running community. Also friends and relatives of runners sometimes like to get involved with the organisation on the day.

Did the Half Marathon in 2019

Well organised event, course pretty much follows the Thames down to Hampton court and back. this makes it a dead flat rout (with the slight exception of the 2 bridges).
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2019

Really excellent venue for my first half marathon, well organised, easy to get to and great scenery
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2019

Second time running this race and really enjoyed it again. Good organisation and a nice course. Only negative for me was the lack of water available and in very small half filled cups
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

It was helpful to be able to get the chip & number well ahead of race day to avoid queuing. Also good to arrive early on the day thanks to the little cale shop on the corner for opening for coffee!
