Route information
This ever-popular cycling event set in the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offers a choice of three distances - 123k, 84k or 50k. Soak in the scenery of Leith Hill, the highest point of the Greensand Ridge, and Box Hill, tackle some challenging climbs and experience some of Surrey's best countryside. With views of open fields, chalk downs, woodlands and grasslands, you'll be spoilt for choice with scenery. All routes will start and finish at Cranleigh Showground.
There's something on offer for all levels of riders, with the 50k being perfect for novice cyclists and the 123k presenting a challenge for even the most experienced of riders.
Long - 123k
Elevation: 1528m
The Long route features some of the area's most difficult climbs but also has plenty of fast, flat sections, so has plenty of variety.
Setting off from Cranleigh, riders will head through Stroud Common and into the picturesque village of Shamley Green. After reaching Wonersh, the route turns onto Bramley's Station Road, bringing riders out into the open countryside after Busbridge.
The course then heads straight towards Hascombe and Loxhill, weaving along country roads through Dunfold and Alfold Crossways. The first feed stop is at Forest Green at roughly 26 miles, where riders can prepare for the climb ahead.
Just after the nearby village of Ockley, the famously tough Leith Hill climb begins. Riders will reach a max elevation of 800ft at the 32-mile mark, before beginning the descent down towards Abinger Common.
After passing through the Denbies Hillside Nature Reserve, riders will reach the town of Dorking before beginning the Box Hill climb. The route then loops back towards Westhumble, bringing riders into Great Bookham, where the second feed stop is, just shy of the 55-mile mark.
At East Horsley, riders will reach the 62-mile point, beginning the final stretch where they will head back through the countryside, passing through Peaslake and Ewhurst before finishing at Cranleigh Showground.
Middle - 84k
Elevation: 1078m
The Middle distance follows a similar route to the Long distance, with riders able to tackle the iconic Leith Hill climb. Just before reaching East Horsley, the two routes diverge, with Middle riders turning at the 40-mile mark and heading down towards Shere and Albury.
The final stretch takes riders through Peaslake and Ewhurst back to Cranleigh Showground.
Short - 50k
Elevation: 509m
The Short route takes riders on a 50k loop from Cranleigh through Shamley Green, Hascombe, Dunfold, Ellen's Green and Ewhurst. Riders will complete the same initial stretch as the Long and Middle riders but will head towards Ewhurst at Forest Green, taking them back towards Cranleigh.
