Organizer's website

The Tissington Trail Half Marathon has established itself as a real favourite with runners, often selling out months in advance, and we hold this race on two dates across one weekend to accommodate as many runners as possible. We're proud that the race regularly features in the Runner's World top 10 UK trail races.

The Tissington Trail, the site of a former railway line from Ashbourne to Buxton, runs along a 13 mile route from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne in Derbyshire. Surrounded by beautiful countryside the traffic-free trail is ideal for a cracking half marathon and, because the route is slightly downhill all the way, you've got gravity on your side!

This race features chip timing, a quality bespoke medal for all finishers, plus well-stocked aid stations and finish line goodies! Commemorative finisher's technical t-shirts will also be available to purchase.

Prizes from the event are generously sponsored by Big Bobble Hats who will be present on the day of the event.

We are also pleased to welcome Much Better Adventures on board as one of our event partners, an award-winning platform for booking unique, ready-made adventure weekends with amazing local hosts. Join a small social group of like-minded people, or book privately just for you and friends. From Kayaking and Wildcamping the Norwegian Fjords to climbing Mt Toubkal in Morocco, check out the amazing adventures you could have on your next weekend away.

As an event entrant, you can get 25 credit to use on any adventure weekend and we'll also have one place on one of their trips available to win for one lucky entrant!

Course Details
This is a rare opportunity to run a half marathon in Derbyshire without hills! The race is a point to point race from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne along the traffic-free Tissington Trail. Coach transport will take you from the Race HQ in Ashbourne to the Race Start in Parsley, you then run back along the trail to reach the finish! The route is slightly downhill virtually all the way, so it's a great course for runners of all abilities and a fantastic introduction to the half marathon distance for runners of all abilities.

Although the route is traffic-free, the trail will still be open to other trail users, including cyclists, walkers and horse-riders.
Raceday Logistics
Race Start is at 10am.

Let's Do This always recommend that you arrive at least 45 mins before your start time so that you have enough time to both register and prep for the race start.

Kit List

How do I attach my race number?

Please attach your race number to the front of your running top or vest using safety pins or clips, securing it on all four corners. Please don’t attach your number to the back of your shirt as it is difficult for our timekeepers and marshals to identify you.

How do I attach my timing chip?

Your timing chip is incorporated into your race number and should not be removed. Please place the race number on the front of your vest/shirt and not on your leg or back.

If you have any questions about the race or would like to volunteer then please follow the link below -

Prize giving and presentations will take place approximately 60 minutes after the first runner home. Results will be uploaded to www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as possible after the race. All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results as soon as possible after the race.

First Aid

Private medical services will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. Please note that due to the nature of the trail, it is not possible to provide contiuous supervision all along the course. This race can’t be faulted! From the friendly atmosphere at the registration point to the chunks of malt loaf as you cross the finish line, everything has been thought of.

The course is beautiful, never crowded and slightly downhill almost all the way so great for a PB.

Great medal and Ashbourne is a brilliant place for a restorative cuppa or pint afterwards.

    One of our very favorites.

A friendly, superbly well organised race (from booking through to race day) held is stunning scenery. The day I ran was cold, crystal clear and blue skies - one of best running experiences ever. Finish line snacks were brilliant as well especially the flapjack. Great race from a great team.
