Route information
This middle-distance consists of a 1.2-mile swim, 60-mile bike and 13.1-mile run in and around the Fishguard Bay and St Davids area. There is also a sprint plus triathlon which is a 950m swim, 30-mile bike and 4 mile run.
Swim
The swim route will be in Fishguard Bay which is protected on two sides with a breakwater. You'll complete 2 laps in the middle and 1 in the sprint plus.
Bike
The 60-mile bike course follows an out-and-back route to St Davids, the country's smallest city. There will be a 3-mile steady ascent as you leave Fishguard, making for a speedy return to base and to transition. The course is on fully closed roads. The sprint plus will do 1 lap of the course.
Run
The 13.1-mile run course will be a scenic loop around the Fishguard Bay surroundings including running up and down the Goodwick Sea Wall. You will complete 3 laps of the course to complete the 13.1-mile distance. For the sprint plus you will complete 1 full lap.

By Car
- Follow A40 to Haverfordwest
- On arrival to Haverford take the exit reading 'Fishguard' on the roundabout to Goodwick
- Take the 1st exit on the roundabout towards Goodwick
- Take the 1st exit on the next roundabout and you will pass the Goodwick Harbour on the right-hand side.

You will be allocated a start wave time closer to the day.
Age Requirements
All entrants must be 18 years or older to compete the middle and 14 for the sprint plus.
Registration
You collect your race number and timing chip from registration either the evening before or the morning of the event. You can only register for yourself and will need to bring your ID and disclaimer in order to register. Registration will be held at the Phoenix Centre
Race Rules

You cannot run with headphones.

Drafting is strictly prohibited and may result in your disqualification.

You may wear your own swim hat but the event swim hat MUST be worn on top.

You can only swim with front-facing strokes. Backstroke is not allowed.
Toilet Facilities
There will be toilets located at the Harbour Front. There will also be toilets at the entrance of the Pheonix Centre, Goodwick.
Kit List
- Wetsuit (wetsuits are mandatory) that covers the torso and thighs. It must not cover the hands or feet
- Bike (Tri Bars are allowed)

When do I get my race pack for The Wales Triathlon?
When you register the night before or on the morning of the race, you will collect your race number and timing chip if you are able to provide photo ID and a signed copy of the disclaimer.
Do I have to wear a wetsuit for The Wales Triathlon?
Yes, it is compulsory to wear a wetsuit that covers your torso and thighs, but must NOT cover your hands and feet.
What swim strokes can I use for The Wales Triathlon?
You are not allowed to do backstroke, even though BTF now permits it. You are only allowed to use front facing strokes.
Can I use tri aero bars for The Wales Triathlon?
Yes, Tri Bars are permitted.
Can I wear headphones for The Wales Triathlon?
No, it is not encouraged to wear headphones on the course as this will distract you from important announcements, emergency vehicles, and your fellow competitors.
