5M Trail Race:6:00pm
This is the most challenging night run in the South West, with mixed terrain across Dartmoor. Expect mud, rocks and bogs to get in your way, and that's before you take in the uphill climbs. You might even have to contend with a blizzard depending on weather conditions. The second half of the race is more downhill than the first half, but it includes Brent Hill, which is infamously muddy.
There is a milder route available for 5 Mile runners, which is still challenging but is designed for less experienced trail runners.

Something Wild Events organise running races & a trail festival in Devon & the South West. Most are on trails and quite a few are in the dark!
Spectators are more than welcome at this event and it is a great evening out for the family. The sight of several hundred head torches illuminating the dark is not to be missed.
Please note that head torches are compulsory. This is due to the fact that although parts of the route are illuminated, runners will be running through some dark areas.
The weather could present its own challenge, so please make sure to dress accordingly if it is freezing cold, snowing, or raining!
Is there an age limit?
Yes, runners in both races must be at least 16 years old on the day of the race.
What type of head torch will I need?
Generally the more expensive the head torch, the brighter and more reliable the light will be and it will enable you to run faster. It is recommended that you spend at least £30 on a head torch. A £5 petrol station head torch is not recommended.
Can I race with my dog?
Dogs are not permitted on the course.
Can I wear headphones?
No, the use of music players and earphones is not allowed during the race.
Good for beginners
I had loads of fun. Felt like a kid again on a night adventure. Can't wait to do the next run. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
