Route information
The undulating course has mixed terrain, with trail, sand, and mud sections. The 10K route is measured out and takes you around the stunning setting of the Ainsdale Sands National Nature Reserve. The course is at times challenging, but runners of all abilities are welcome to take part. There are signposts marking out the Route throughout, and there will be a feed station at the 5K mark.

From the Coastal Road/Shore Road, follow 'Event Parking' Signs. The Car Park is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Registration/Start area.

By Train:
Ainsdale Train Station is located a 12 minute walk from the Start area. There will be signs to 'Registration'.
Event day logistics
Race Location: Ainsdale Sand Dunes NNR, 2 West End Lodge, Pinfold Lane, Ainsdale, Merseyside PR8 3QW
The car park will be located at Shoreside Primary School, which is a 10 minute signposted walk from the Registration/Start Area.
Timings:
There are 3 waves to choose between when you enter.
- 10:00am: Blue Bands wave Starts
- 11:30am: Red Bands wave Starts
- 13:00pm: Yellow Bands wave Starts
- 15:30pm: Prize Giving by the Finish Area
Please Note that there is a cut off time for each wave after 2 Hours.

The trail route has sandy and muddy sections and is an undulating course so you should wear appropriate clothing, including running shoes/trainers with good grip.

Where can I leave my Baggage?
At the Start/Finish area, there will be a bag drop area. Please remember to label your bags clearly with your race and name number. You leave your bags at your own risk.
Are there toilets?
At the carpark of Shoreside CP School there are toilets, and there will be portable toilets available at the start/finish area.
Can I wear headphones?
Yes, headphones are permitted.
What is a Tiger Beetle?
Tiger Beetles are insects found in many areas of Europe, but in the UK it can only be found in coastal sites in Lancashire and Cumbria. Look out for these attractive insects, which are mainly dark red on their body, but with a greenish sheen and yellow/white stripes on the wing cases. They can be recognised by their long legs, large eyes, and long curved mandibles.
