Tommy’s Ride is a superb ride and a perfect way to begin a historic memorial weekend. This year, the race takes place in the spectacular Wessex Droves & Chalke Valley, west of Salisbury. Ride this superb circuit in a beautiful corner of the British countryside in commemoration of the weekend's historic events, and help raise funds for one of best established and most worthy charities. £5 from every ride entry will be donated to the Royal British Legion, plus you can buy the limited edition event t-shirt – with all profits from t-shirt sales going to the charity too.
The timelessly beautiful Chalke Valley, between Salisbury and Shaftesbury is flanked north and south by steep sided chalk downs, topped with ancient dirt driven roads, which all goes together to create a course filled with spectacular, thrilling and challenging riding. The route mixes plenty of superb dirt/gravel track sections, connected by beautiful back lanes through picturesque villages and countryside surrounding the chalk stream valley. The downs bring plenty of contours to the party, creating a succession of testing climbs and fantastic descents. The culmination of the ride is the exhilarating final 14k section of unbroken gravel track, on just enough of a downward gradient to let you open up those cranks and fly to the finish.
