Did the race in 2021
Excellent event - the organizers coped well with challenging weather, and was a very friendly, easy-going, and enjoyable event all round. Would happily come back again and would recommend to anyone interested in trail running.
Did the race in 2021
Really great atmosphere, lots of friendly people and an awesome course! Loved the trail route up to the lake, it's absolutely beautiful and luckily we had moments of sunshine and only a bit of rain so the views were great. It was a pretty wet weekend and trail shoes were a must as the roots and rocks were pretty slippery. The 10k has 6k of lovely gradual downhill which was lovely - such a nice run down the track to the finish. As always with trail runs a lot of the route was single file, meaning that you're often stuck in a bit of a traffic jam. Important to get nearer the front at the start line if you think you'll run fast. We walked up most of the hills (which is fine by me). There's a beautiful section at the beginning through a lovely wood of tall trees, snaking up the hill. The event was really well organised, the marshals were lovely cheering us on. Real shame about the weather the day before as camping must have been pretty interesting overnight with all the rain. They had a tractor pulling the cars out of the car park field as so many people got stuck in the mud 😂 so luckily people weren't stuck for long. Overall a great event, friendly people, well organised and sustainable (bring your own water cups, wooden medal etc). And so many people doing the canicross which is just so great to see all the doggos running around. I'd definitely be up for doing the half marathon next year, it's such a beautiful setting in the Beacons and a great trail route. Thanks to all the organisers and volunteers 🙌🏼
